Bulls/Cavs

Cavs seem to want a pass-first PG who can play D. Duhon isn't as good as Andre Miller, but he's a pretty good 4th option on offense (he's put up some 20+ pts in several games this season), plays terrific D, and won't whine if he has to come off the bench.

He also has an expiring contract with Bird rights. If the Cavs resigned him this off season, they would not eat into their mid-level exception.

How about:

Duhon + Nichols (cap filler, and $427k in expiring)

for Damon Jones and a first.

I'm not sure if the Bulls' stingy owner would agree to the extra year of Jones, but I would hope so...

If Ferry trades a first round pick for Chris Duhon-- Ferry needs to step down immediately..

Not fair enough. We should throw in another 1st to even it out a bit.

Maybe even 2 more 1st's and a couple of 2nd's come to think of it.

Man DUHON IS THE EXACT PIECE WE NEED!!!!

TRADE Z FOR HIM!!!

Who's Duhon?

This is obviously terrible. By the way, if the Cavs really wanted a pass first pg they wouldn't have been pursuing Bibby. Sure Kidd was someone LeBron wanted but clearly not only is Duhon no Miller he's no Kidd either. What the Cavs need is talent trading a first for Duhon is a talent decrease no matter who we got.

I'll trade you Donyell for Duhon. AND Chicago sends Cleveland a 1st round (unprotected) pick in 2008.

Sound fair?

About as fair as your proposal.

So apparently you don't like the deal. Got it.

Is it a general distaste for Duhon or the price?

I was thinking the Cavs might target Du with a portion of their mid-level this off-season, but that may be way off base as well.

It's the price.. Although I'm sure Duhon doesn't excite the masses.. But, trading away a 1st for the Bulls backup PG who is average at best just doesn't do it for me.

Duhon is good, but when he subs in for Hinrich, there is a noticeable drop in offensive creativity. He's an excellent defender, but a first round pick is too much for what could be a half season rental.

Additionally, if Duhon is dealt, doesn't he lose his Bird rights?

Chad Ford just said in his chat that he got a call about

Ben Wallace for Gooden, Newble, Simmons, Brown

he said it was a third party source though

No, Duhon does not lose his Bird rights. He is coming off a 3 year contract with the Bulls, not the QO.

With respect to Duhon's offense, he is obviously not of the caliber of Kirk Hinrich. Duhon's strengths are as a defender and distributor. When the Bulls had a low post option (Curry, and to a far lesser extent PJ Brown), Duhon did a much better job feeding the post than Kirk.

He is a decent but not great shooter. He shoots about 35% from three. His overall shooting percentage sucks, but that largely reflects the Bulls crappy offense.

My view is that Duhon could be a very solid rotation (even starting) player on a team that has other offensive weapons. Duhon can hold his own on offense, but he's not a dangerous scorer.

Chad Ford's chat today had this to say about Duhon (part of the discussion about the Wallace for Gooden, Marshall, etc. trade...

Chad Ford wrote:All I can say is that owner Dan Gilbert is a huge Pistons fan ... maybe he sees something we don't. Duhon would help them.

I'm just saying...

SEE!!!

I TOLD YOU GUYS HEATHMALC WAS DANNY FERRY!

you didn't believe me!

thank goodness we didn't give up anything for Duhon

if we need a guy like him we can easily find a free agent this offseason without giving up anything
