Welcome Delonte West!
This is an outstanding pickup for what amounted to a throw in. I've followed his career since college and he is a great all around player. He's very similar to Kirk Heinrich. He's a tall combo guard that plays solid defense. He is a good shooter who has very good shot selection and ball handling. He has a quick release and can shoot off the dribble and he is also very efficient with the ball. He's only 24 and we can expect to see him get even better over the next few years. This kid has no flaws in his game. He's been stuck on miserable teams since he's been in the league and I can't wait to see what he will do on the Cavs with Lebron.
Look at his stat line his second year in the league only 22 years old:
34 MPG, 12 PPG, 4.5 APG, 4.1 RPG, .487 FG%, 385 3PT%, 851 FT%, 1.9 TO, 1.2 STL
I believe West and Gibson will make a great backcourt for years to come, both perfect compliments to Lebron.
Smith, Wally and Ben will all contribute to this team but when people look back on this trade in the future West will be the steal of the trade.

i just hope boobie and sasha can get back from injury quick. becuase i hate seeing snow and damon jones on the floor. and finally we have a legit point guard. i dont know what to call boobie i love him as a player but to me he is a shooter/scorer but thats not a bad thing we are offensively challanged.

Delonte West is probably my favorite player after the Big 3. He can be a great shooter and has very good ballhandling skills. He also has a hilarious personality, much like Scot Pollard. Here's two examples:

When I also think of LeBron and D-West, I think of LeBron's facial on him.

You guys will love Delonte! I guarantee that!

D West does somethings well. Mostly he can shoot the ball when he gets hot. Makes the ocassional big defensive play out of know where. I have never seen one small guy block so many centers shots in my life time. He can only go left, and will make a good back up for Gibson. Boobie has to be the worst nickname in the L.

I'm a Boston fan, and bought tickets to the Celtics/Seattle game just to see Delonte's first return game in Boston.
Now, I'm scrambling to find a reasonably priced ticket for 2/27 to see him play.
Delonte is a tough player who gives his all every single night. A while back when some ideas were circulating about sending Delonte to the Cavs, I told everyone in Boston that would be the *worst* thing we could possibly do.
Delonte and LeBron together should work very, very well. If Delonte plays (and evolves) as the player he can be - you've got yourself a key piece of the puzzle. Both LeBron and Delonte want to win, and they are both very smart basketball players.
Once Delonte gets his confidence back from distance, he's an excellent outside shooter. He is also very smart. Put other smart players around these two, and you've got yourself a team. Gibson, Wally are also pretty sharp guys.
On the negative side, Delonte has been inconsistent, and if his confidence doesn't return, he could very easily fizzle out and be nothing more than a bench journeyman for his career. I, for one, still think he can be a legitimate starter on a championship team... and now, he has his chance.
I really believe that in the right situation Delonte can excel. Delonte is the kind of kid that never gets picked first on the playground, but he's always on the winning team. Recall that he and Jameer Nelson lead St. Joes to an undefeated college season.
Good luck Delonte!
