Hawks fan here. Just wanted to say congrats on the trade. You guys are definitely one of my top favorite 5 teams now that you have 2 of my favorite players in Lebron and Big Ben.

I know you are probably content with your team right now and the last thing you want to think about is a trade, but I was wondering if you guys might look at something that involves exchanging Wally and Mike. Mike is also a shooter and probably a better one. Wally's expiring contract would help free up cap space for Memphis who is trying to rebuild.

Is that something you guys would consider or would you rather attempt to resign Wally for less when his contract is up . . . or would you say that question is best answered once you see how Wally does in the playoffs?

In all seriousness, I am a bigger fan of Miller's game than Szczerbiak's, but its too soon after the trade to talk about getting rid of him already. Lets see how this team fits together for a while first.

I too would prefer to have Miller, but that would also mean that the Cavs would have to absorb some other contracts to balance the books (unless Memphis is well under the cap). I just don't see the Cavs taking on salary to do that.

I thought you guys would be interested in this. Wally Scerbiak is one of the highest rated players in the league this season according to the 82games.com formula. He ranks 25. Miller is ranked well behind him.

I kind of like Wally. He has shot terribly his 1st 2 games here but I've seen enough of him that he won't keep missing those shots for long.

That said I'd prob make the trade. Miller's contract isn't that bad for what he produces, and he's younger

We could get so many other better players than Miller. The guy is 28 playing 37 minutes a night and only averaging 17 points a game on the terrible Grizzlies. Please Cavs fans change our focus from this mediocre player.

I would have preferred Miller over Wally, but I'm not really interested in him now. His shooting and Wally's is comparable and Miller isn't very good on defense either...so the cost of acquiring him - a bad contract - isn't worth it. I'd rather see the Cavaliers use Wally's expiring contract for a top-notch point-guard. Not Bibby.... someone like Calderon or maybe Baron Davis (wishful thinking).

Miller is an afterthought now. We're probably gonna get Delonte on the relative cheap next year since he's still got something to prove in this league before he can get a good long term deal, and he will help shore up our pg problems. Not to mention, we've got Wally and Joe Smith and their ridarculously huge expiring contracts next year.

All of this flexibility as opposed adding Mike Miller and his huge contract to the old team. The cavs front office hit a homerun here. There are two proven commodities in this league: superstars and cap flexibility. Only one organization in recent history has been able to consistently field both: the spurs. And that team is a borderline dynasty at best, and at worst, the envy of every franchise.

Dan Gilbert's and Danny Ferry's goal was to mold this franchise in the image of the spurs, and despite some early setbacks, they're in position to do that with 30 mil either going into a trade or coming off the books next year. This situation is reminiscent of when the spurs tried to land Jason Kidd.

I hear some weird $hit was going on with Memphis's front office. I bet Ferry will not even talk to those guys.

I heard the Memphis F.O. specifically Chris Wallace got gunshy after the Gasol trade...he was roasted for giving Pau to the Lakers. Miami and a few other teams also thought they had deals with Memphis. If Ferry is reluctant to deal with any GM it's probably Petrie in Sacramento after the Bibby dealings.

With that said the Cavaliers probably have as good a shot as anyone to land Mike Miller if they really want him this summer. The Cavs have the expiring contracts and other assets to get a deal done. However, I think at this point they might be better off to focus on getting another big man, possibly in the draft, and shoring up a few other areas (PG or perimeter defense depending on how the rest of this season plays out). Miller might be more of a luxury. Maybe they are setting up to make a true blockbuster by the next deadline to bring in a 'big timer' to play next to LeBron.

With 30 mil in expiring contracts i can see the Cavs getting Redd + garbage contract in a trade.
