Question about your newest assests

Post#1 » by Deepness5134 » Thu Feb 28, 2008 7:16 am

Hey there Cavs Fans...I know its probably only been a few games, but i just wanted to know what you all think of Ben Wallace so far. (I know Smith's play so im sure youre all happy with him, but im more concerned about BW)

I know with our acquisitions of Hughes and Gooden, I am so far fairly pleased.

We are good with what Ben is doing. He has done pretty much what we wanted.

I am pleased. It looks like he is trying hard and getting rebounds. These are his numbers in the 3 games since the deal..

1. 12 points 10 rebounds
2. 7 points 12 rebounds
3. 6 points 6 rebounds

Not bad at all. We know he will never be the Ben Wallace in Detroit, but hopefully he is somewhere between what he gave you and what he gave Detroit. He is also a MUCH, MUCH better defender than Gooden.

I think it is fair that Big Ben will never be like what he was in Detriot.

But his numbers in Cleveland is better than what he got from Chi-town..

And now he can go back to his best job, rebound and blocking.

As long as he doesn't have to score, he is ok.

So what has he been doing his whole career?

I think the thing with BW is.. not if he will rebound and block shots for you guys, but more like will he get in the way of your team?

Bulls and Cavs play totally different games, so it's kinda hard to compare the two, but if you ever saw an offense on the Bulls with Wallace on the court, you could see how lost he was. And with him being lost, it created less space for our guards to dribble around. Basically, it'd be alot better if he stayed on the other side of the court during offense.

I think this will really hurt Lebron in the long run. It's just going to be alot easier to double team Lebron. And honestly, once teams start gameplanning against you guys 4vs5, then it will be tough to win games. Last year they saw the Bulls as a threat.. So they gameplanned around the way we played. Gameplanned around Wallace's inability to score/move in any offense.

Be forewarned...

We've already experienced plenty of 4v5's when we had snow starting all 82 games a few years ago.

Yes but at least that was somebody who knew how to dribble as well as shoo.. err hit the rim with the ball. Just wait till Wallace gets frustrated with the team and starts going kamikaze by taking it to the hole himself... but yet managed to miss the rim AND the backboard completely.

LOL! That's pretty funny...even if you're right.

I don't think it'll be a big deal with us. Because Ben will be used the same way we used Varejao. Varejao couldn't hit the broadside of a barn last year, and his handle is as bad as Ben's. He has improved his shot, so he can hit the 10-footer pretty regularly, but the point here is that Ben will be used for easy buckets when he is left alone in the paint.

Even in the last 3 games we have seen that.

We expect nothing more from him. We want him to play defense. Any points he gets is completely extra!

Same here in Chicago until he stopped providing rebounds and defense. For your sake, Cliff Levingston hopes he can give you the defense and rebounding you need, otherwise he's one of the biggest liabilities (if not the biggest) in the NBA.

Cliff speaks the truth. We, Chicago fans, too, were praising him during his first year here. Thinking he's going to change the Bulls to make them tougher. But when things didn't go his way.. well all he did was pout. I sure hope that Lebron is a big enough superstar that he can have that "talk" that MJ probably had with Rodman when he joined the Bulls about his attitude and the team.

He can provide alot of positives to your team, but it's a big risk to have if it doesn't pan out. Good luck!

You guys misread what we are saying.

We don't care if Ben decides to be an ass...we'll sit him. Honestly, he isn't "NEEDED".

We aren't looking for Ben to do ANYTHING but what he did for YOU GUYS!

We are completely cool with 5 points and 8 rebounds! He is doing a lot better than that, but if he didn't...we'd be cool with it.

And unlike Scott Skiles, Mike Brown will put him on the end of the Bench. Ben Wallace isn't our team leader...he isn't even in the top-3.

The only risk is that we take on a few extra million in the Larry-exchange.

But...we saved a couple million on the Gooden/Smith exchange.

And speaking of "risks"... I see that Drew has continued him bone-headed plays for you guys, and Larry looks to be returning to "form" with the way he shot last night. We'll see who really took the risk in a couple weeks.

I hope you guys are happy with what you got, because we are happy with what we got from you.

Chicago blows an 18-point half-time lead to a Wizards team that didn't have Butler or Arenas. Gooden & Hughes combine to go 7 for 23. Gooden muscles down 6 rebounds (lol).

You guys out-shot Washington 43% to 41%, AND you out-rebounded them. AND you were at home.

I think that perhaps you guys should be more worried about YOUR new assets, as opposed to ours. But thanks for taking them off our hands. ;)

I agree. Bulls catered to Ben because they based their whole marketing strategy around him & were reluctant to admit mistakes

For Bulls, selling tickets are more important than actually winning games

When fan displeasure with Wallace's apathy grew & anger was directed at him & management - only then did the Bulls decide that they MUST admit their mistake & move him

Bulls fans dont realize that Cleve does not need to treat Wallace with kid gloves. The rules are different now.

The problems with the Bulls are that the players that management decided to build around - and who they expected to improve every year - all turned out to be over rated & not nearly as good as fans or management believed. All have regressed in their development

Kirk Hinrich is having his worse year.

Luol Deng turns down $57 million - and has spent the whole season showing that he's "not worth 57 cents" (a Barkley quote)

Ben Gordon turns down an above market contract offer & pouts that he was not offered the same money as Michael Redd was a few years ago.

Nocioni continues to make mental mistakes & even his hustle will not make up for them.

So, the Bulls need more work than people originally thought. Trading Wallace was a necessity because fans were demanding it & management could see they were right. I am not overly pleased that we got Hughes & Gooden but it was the best return that we could have received

In conclusion - the Bulls were terrible before Hughes & Gooden joined the team - and we will will terrible with Hughes & Gooden.

The team needs to undergo major shakeups in the off-season and I believe that mangement has developed its strategies & will bide its time until it can actually make moves.
