LeBron, the single most dominant NBA star
LeBron James is the single most dominant player in the NBA. I am a Cavaliers fan, so it can be argued that I am biased, but let the record speak for itself: LeBron puts up numbers that no NBA player has managed since Oscar Robertson (the four game stretch of 30/12/11). He has put-up single game performances that hasn't been seen in 35 years (50 pts, 8 rb, 10ast). He is the youngest player to accomplish every feat, breaking records that Kobe previously held, a year earlier than Kobe.
Total dominance? LeBron James is 6'9 260 (according to him), he has played, and guarded EVERY position this season. What other player can claim that? Can any even claim 4 of the 5? He is the only SF I have seen back down Dwight Howard.
People say he doesn't play defense that well. I disagree. When the Cavaliers played the Lakers, who guarded Kobe in the 4th quarter - and shut him down? That's right, LeBron! And who guarded LeBron? Kobe. But did HE shut LeBron down? No.
I use Kobe Bryant here because he is the person that is considered the best scorer in the game... yet LeBron guarded him during crunch-time. If he can shut-down the default best scorer in the league, then how can anyone say he isn't a good defender?
Add to all of this that he turned 23 years old just a couple months ago, and how can anyone not be convinced that LeBron is the single most dominant force in the league?
People point to Kobe Bryant as the best scorer. And I cannot deny that his shot is prettier than LeBron's and he makes some seemingly magical shots. However, LeBron shoots a higher percentage than Kobe, and if he took less jump-shots and drove the lane more, his percentage would rise dramatically.
In conclusion, LeBron does things that not even Michael Jordan accomplished in his illustrious career; He has gone head-to-head with the best big men and the best guards in the league, yet always seems to come out on top. When he is in the All-Star game (every year), he is the guy that the coaches run their offense through. When LeBron is on the court, he is the MAIN focus of the opposing defense, regardless of who else in on his team. That, in itself say everything that needs to be said: LeBron is the best.

a quick question...............who was the player that played all 5 positions in a championship game at the age of 20, scoring 42 points with 15 rebounds, 7 assists and 3 steals while winning the series and the finals mvp?
there are lots of other players that have been as great as lebron at a early age. lets hope he can continue through the years to become a legend.

No there haven't been.
If you just add the caveat that it be in a winning effort you'd cut that Wilt PDA in half. Half of those records were in one single game.

yes but a record that he holds none the less. And most of the other records are significant; if he doesn't hold the most of the important records then MJ has the others.
It's a very bold statement to say hes the most dominant star period
because right now, he has no rings.
I give it to him for being the youngest to hold records
for triple-double, score more than 50 points, and score 10,000 points.
Will he be in the future ? There is a huge possiblity he takes the title. But now OP should respect the elders of NBA who have proven it to the rest of the world or change the title of the thread.

you posted this on the lakers board and i have a response:
dominance: they are better than anyone. you said better than anyone in the nba. is lebron better than kobe at his postion? no. is lebron better than dwight howard at his position? no is lebron better than tony parker or nash at their position? no. lebron has made it to 10,000 pts. right out of high school playing every game. thats why he made it faster than kobe. kobe went to a great team where they did not let him play. so lets stop that argument. even as a cav's fan you can not say lebron is better than kobe bryant. exactly what has lebron done? i dont see any championships next to his name....so what would that be. he is a very powerful player. he is also a great player but to say he dominates the nba....i have not seen that yet. they used to say shaq dominated because no one could stop him. he was powerful and could not be guarded one on one. could you not say that about kobe, tracy mcgrady, yao ming, dwight howard, dirk nowenski, tim duncan, manu gonubli....i can go on and on....dominate
i think not. Is he a great player...yes but he is not the greatest player in the game.....im sorry......he is having a great year....lets see him do it over and over again...year after year. win some championships....and so on and so forth......right now all you can say is he is a great player.

you cant be more than 10 years old?
to the op.. kobe dropped 81 2 years ago, 50 4 times ina row, 40+ like 10 ina row.. how can you possibly say lebrons performance against the worst team in the nba is the best in 35 years? its not even close, and handchecking hasnt even been allowed the last 7 or so years, hence the sh*t D in the nba and guys like jamison, rip hamilton, jamal crawford, etc dropping 50.. these guys would be on their ass half the game in the 80s and 90s and would finish a game completely beat up if they dropped 50, nowadays its lika show, the other team almost watches.. im not taking anything away from lbj who will be completely 100% unguardable when his j and postgame peaks and handchecking is still outlawed, but a 50 pt game on the knicks and its the best performance in the last 35 years? were you born last night? it may not even be the best performance this year..
kobe: 52pts 11bounds 4dimes 2 blocks on the mavs the other day
cp3: 19pts 21dimes 3steals on LA
23pts 17dimes 9 rebounds 2steals on denver
42pts 9dimes 8steals 5rebounds on phx
31pts 11dimes 9steals 5rebounds on dallas
several 25pt 15+ dimes 5+ steals games
dwight: 31 n 20, 29 n 21, tons of 20 20 games (which seem less and less significant b/c he keeps doing them, like kobe and 50pts)
like clyde said last nite, lebron at his best will be averaging a triple double with less ppg once he peaks and gets better teamates, this 50pt line is great, but hes going to have even scarier ones in the future, even if its not 50pts, this guy is going to dish 10-15dimes almost every night while puttin up 25-30pts and grabbin 10 boards

^^Do you not truly believe that if LBJ truly, and I mean TRULY wanted to, he can score an insanely amount points on any given night..
Look at LBJ and then look at Kobe... LeBron *IF HE WANTED TO* could get 40, 50 any game he wanted to by forcing his way into the paint/line etc...
We would probably lose 40-50 games if he played that way, but make no mistake about it, if the kid wanted to attack the basket on every possession or get into the paint, he could...And by doing so, would put up off the charts scoring numbers nightly..

i hate to state the obvious, but did you decide because of a 50 point game that Lebron is the greatest ever? He's not even the greatest right now.
The majority of experts pick Kobe. Lebron MVP supporters say "look at his assists per game, rebounds per game, points per game" but igore how much he handles the ball compared to other players in the league.
In the words of Einstein, "not all that counts can be counted and not all that can be counted, counts. "

Kobe is a better scorer.... I see no evidence as to why Kobe is the best player in the game today ?? Simply cause he's not..
Kobe is starting to get that seniority nod in terms of the media...He's been around the block, so he's getting that type of love...
Look at ALL the stats... Look at the defensive stats...Look at the 4th quarter stats...
And lets not forget Kobe was at LBJ's mercy in both meetings... LBJ absolutely destroyed Kobe and shut him down whereas Kobe couldn't stop LBJ on any possessions.. But that's really trivial to the argument IMO... Although it was fun to watch..
Kobe a better scorer ?? Okay...
LeBron is hands down the better overall basketball player across the board..Especially since his defense has done a complete 180 from a couple years ago..
Hell, Kobe is just now learning how to lead a team... He's only in what ? year 11 or 12 of his career ??
LeBron has been doing this for years..
