What is your guys feelings about the Cavs signing this guy in the off season to a very small contract. I feel like he could be a good long term project and in the future be a solid back up center. He can block shots and seems to have a higher celling then someone like Dwayne Jones.

I'd rather have Ryan Hollins from Charlotte...

He's got more athleticism, better timing on shot blocking, and IMO, has a chance to come out of nowhere as a defensive force..He's really someone that is under the radar IMO, but has a chance to really do well in a defensive system..

And he can finish in the paint...

i think both of those guys are options, but what about gerald green? i can't believe this guy is a free agent he could still turn out to be a great player and with james on his side this could be a crazy offensive duo

Gerald Green is good, but the real crazy potential is with James White.

What about him. He's a stiff.

I like POB. I would like to see him brought in as a summer camp invitee. I'm assuming he will be playing in the summer league. I like his abilities and he would fit well with Mike Brown's style.

Gerald Green has actual basketball skills (he can shoot). James White does not. He's just an athlete. Athletes go play track and field.

maybe playing him next to james could wake him up? i know his iq is terrible and he is kinda dumb out there but man having him on the wing next to james could be special. offensively we would be pretty hard to stop, but his defense would have to improve far beyond what it is for him to become a starter in this league. He definately has alot of potential in that area with his size and athletisizm, also coach brown likes big 2 gaurds i highly doubt it happens but i would love to see it

I would bring him in under an ungaurunteed contract with incentives. Bring Lebron to the meeting and hopefully sell him on the fact of learning basketball and if Lebron is willing to take him under his wing like Boobie (but I dont think he is that humble) than possibly he will get worn out in a year or two and like Pavolovic realize he needs to play defense and play correctly to get on the floor when he first got here.

He is still young but if we wanted a project that is closer to completion and can possibly be more fruitful I think it is JR Smith. If he can learn to play defense in the Mike Brown system he can start but even if he cant be as good as Pavs he would still be a great 6th man if we dont keep Devin Brown.

Boston knows Green first hand. Has about as much veteran leadership as any team can get. And they still won't take that kid back.

Green is over rated, that is why someone like BOB is better

Boston wouldn't want Gerald back because they're a veteran team with no use for him on the wings. There's no reason he'd play there over the likes of Posey/Tony Allen. In Cleveland he'd serve a useful purpose, as he can hit the long ball and come off screens, opening up the offense a bit. He really would be an excellent complement to LeBron's drive game in the halfcourt....my worry with Gerald though is that he really needs to be out on the break to truly thrive, and that hasn't been happening in Cleveland too much.

Defensively he's got some major issues with team defense, anyone much quicker than him (Jamaal Crawford dominated him), and anyone stronger than him (Pierce would have a field day), but he can guard guys of similar body type man to man fairly effectively (the best defense I've seen him play has been against Kobe).

As for his work ethic, it isn't as bad as it's made out to be. It isn't that he isn't willing to work, but that he doesn't seem to understand how much work he needs to put in. I remember after his first offseason he came into the Celtics camp and talked about how he felt like he'd gone above and beyond with his offseason work....while the coaching staff disagreed. Perhaps being a free agent has woken him up a bit in that regard, and perhaps not, but if he's in the right situation I think he'll see the light in that regard, he just needs the right people pushing him.

All in all I think Cleveland would be a solid fit for Gerald, not exactly ideal, but it could work.

I kind of doubt you could get POB cheap. he seems like the type that some idiot will throw the MLE at for "potential"

I don't think that any team would offer him that much

Probably not the best option for us. He hasn't shown much to attract any attention.
