I ask this as a huge fan of his, trying to catch his games and all...does he have the potential to become his sidekick?

I don't think so. Sasha is just too inconsistant on offense. He has great athleticism though and I'd like to think he can be a key role player for us for a long time. His defensive role was huge during last seasons post season run.

The holdout and everything that happened this year really really set him back badly. At the end of last year I would have answered yes that I thought he had a chance to become that costar... This year's setback may have cost him a chance to ever show that.

No, Sasha at his best is a decent player, but does not have the potential to be a sidekick or even a significant starter. Pavs struggled mightily this whole season with the holdout and two injuries. I expect him to improve next season, but ideally he's s 6th man type of player on level with a Pietrus or Carlos Delfino.

I expect him to get better next season, but if for some reason he plays like he did this season he might not be in the NBA very long. Average NBA wingmen are a dime a dozen and he was well below average this season.

Recently for these first two game returning from his injury he hasn't looked very good or bad. He's just out there right now not having much impact. That's not necessarily a bad thing considering he's just returning from an injury and Devin Brown has been horrible in the post-season thus far.

I love his size at the 2 and his potential but he never seems to be able to get it together for an extended period of time. So I don't think that he can Co star that you are looking for.

No. I don't really even see him improving much at all. He'll never have the mental game that he needs. There are no potential running mates for LeBron on the current roster.

Honestly, I will still say yes. He is still young and he doesnt have the wear that that we think since he rode the bench in Utah then here before even got on the floor. It took for him to guard Lebron everyday on the second team in practice to find out that in order to crack the rotation he had to play defense, which in a way benefited him. He is easily a better defender at the 2 than most players at his position due to his length and athleticism.

The holdout and injuries are what has plagued him this year. But when the Boston series started I instantly noticed he was back. Devin Brown is smaller and cant defend the way he can. On offense I'll be honest, Pavs is the only person besides Lebron who can drive into the paint. I dont see him as a good 2nd option but as a 2/3 he may be very effective.

He showed promise last year. If it isnt Mike Miller or someone of equal value (not Michael Redd) I am comfortable with Pavs being the starting 2. If we can get a Post scoring option at the 4 or 5 behind Z, that would be great.

Sasha doesn't have the potential to be anything more than a bottom tier starting SG in this league.

Same with most everyone else on the Cavs. Gibson, West, Varejao.

We are not asking for him to be a Scottie Pippen or what not... The original poster is just asking if Sasha can be an idealistic sidekick for LeBron in the future because for one, we need a 2 guard who is capable of shooting well consistently... Two, one who plays defense on a day to day basis.. and three, one who has a lot of athleticism to be a runner with LeBron.

Guys, everybody who did not jump on the bandwagon after game 5 last year has already had this discussion a thousand times over. The answer is obviously no. His shot, effort and decision making are all inconsistent.
