2 realistic offseason trades...

Post#1 » by RevMan26 » Mon May 26, 2008 8:06 pm

TRADE #1...

Cavaliers trade: Anderson Varejao, Damon Jones, #19 pick, cash
Blazers trade: Jarrett Jack, Joel Przybilla, #13 pick, #33 pick, #36 pick

Reasoning: The Blazers should be looking to shed a little cap and shed some of the draft picks that they have this year. They have 4 total draft picks before this trade and after it, they are left with 2. They still have 2 international players that are unsigned from last year in SG Rudy Fernandez and PG Petteri Koponen. This deal allows them to save cap (Varejao is expected to opt out and Jones is an ending deal) and save on numerous draft picks (trade 3 picks for 1 pick).

Blazers depth chart:
C: Greg Oden, Anderson Varejao, Robin Lopez
PF: LaMarcus Aldridge, Channing Frye
SF: Martell Webster, Travis Outlaw
SG: Brandon Roy, James Jones, Damon Jones
PG: Sergio Rodriguez, Steve Blake
IR: Josh McRoberts, Raef LaFrentz
Unsigned picks: Rudy Fernandez, Petteri Koponen, Joey Dorsey
Draft picks: #19, 55

#19 pick: Robin Lopez, C, Stanford
#55 pick: Joey Dorsey, PF, Memphis

TRADE #2...

Cavaliers trade: Sasha Pavlovic, Wally Szczerbiak
Grizzlies trade: Mike Miller, Brian Cardinal

Reasoning: The Grizzlies are looking to completely rebuild the team from the ground up and do it around Rudy Gay and Mike Conley. They have two 1st rounders this year to boot as well. This deal allows them to get rid of some long term deals (Miller and namely Cardinal) and bring back a big expiring in Szczerbiak and a young prospect that they've supposedly liked for some time in Pavlovic.

Grizzlies depth chart:
C: Darko Milicic, Jason Collins
PF: Hakim Warrick, Anthony Randolph
SF: Rudy Gay, Casey Jacobsen
SG: Sasha Pavlovic, Juan Carlos Navarro, Wally Szczerbiak
PG: Mike Conley, Kyle Lowry, Javaris Crittenton
IR: Ante Tomic
Draft picks: #5, #28

#5 pick: Anthony Randolph, PF, LSU
#28 pick: Ante Tomic, C, Croatia

Cavaliers depth chart:
C: Zydrunas Ilgauskas, Joel Przybilla, Kosta Koufos
PF: Joe Smith, Ben Wallace, Jason Thompson
SF: LeBron James, Devin Brown
SG: Mike Miller, Daniel Gibson
PG: Delonte West, Jarrett Jack
IR: Shan Foster, Brian Cardinal
Draft picks: #13, 33, 36

#13 pick: Kosta Koufos, C, Ohio State
#33 pick: Jason Thompson, PF, Rider
#36 pick: Shan Foster, SG, Vanderbilt

I don't see Portland going: "Hey, how would you like us to give you the best player in a trade, plus a higher first round pick for your first pick, plus two more draft picks in the early 2nd round ?"

SWEET!

I LOVE BOTH OF THESE TRADES!

Danny Ferry and the Blazers GM do have some type of history together, maybe this isnt so far off.

Well it would work if we put a 09 second in for one of theirs?

The 2nd trade isn't realistic. Memphis already had a chance last year to deal Mike Miller for expirings, but they said no.

Then I suppose the Cavs won't be trading at all...

the cavs don't need an allstar besides lebron.

RevMan i like the idea you have for two reasons

1. we get a lot of picks, to get young talent on the team

2. we get starting SG (Mike Miller) who can consistantly shoot the ball (specifically the outside shoot) and with lebron's passing to get him open shots he could defintly help the cavs without having to be an all-star

Still wouldn't win a championship. I love Joe Smith, but he is not a starting PF on a championship team.

Of course I'd take these deals if offered regardless
