Offseason Plan

Post#1 » by APW2914 » Tue Jun 10, 2008 1:18 pm

Here is my offseason plan for the Cavs. First off I don't think we have much of a chance at Brand, Redd, or B-Diddy. I would much rather have either of those three, but I think that is just wishful thinking.

The Bulls are most likely going to pick Rose and that would make Hinrich expendable. I really feel he needs a change or scenary. He can play point, he can play off the ball, he can hit open shots and he can defend. Get him while his stock is low. Trade Wally's expiring contract and a couple second round picks.

Next, sign Ron Artest to the mid level exception. Artest has a great relationship with Mike Brown, and before the Pacers traded him to the Kings, he said he would love to play with Lebron. I know he is a risk, but the man can score buckets and obviously play D. Lebron wouldn't have to cover the other teams best player like he had to against the Celtics.

Resign Boobie and Delonte. Trade Snow and D Jones for a big man, or just let them expire.

Draft the most NBA ready player that falls to us. And that does not include Kosta under any circumstances.

Our rotation is listed below.

1 - Hinrich / West
2 - Artest / Bobbie & Sasha
3 - James
4 - Wallace / Smith
5 - Z / Varejao

Just throwing some ideas out there, let me know what you guys think.

I'd love it if this were our offseason, but even if Artest still really wants to play for James/Brown, I can't see him taking the MLE to do so. That aside, that's a much better starting lineup, and a much better bench, and all it took is one pretty realistic trade and one (dream) signing.

That starting lineup has to be Brown's wet dream, the defense would be off the charts, but...

I don't think Hinrich's value is that low and I don't see Artest taking MLE...

Maybe Varejao and D Jones contract for a sign and trade Artest. Then trade Sasha, Snow, Picks for Hinrich. Then sign a big man like Diop or some small contract guy.

Problem with that lineup is we still have no post scoring.

Though I suppose we could try to post up Artest and LBJ

This league does not have a lot of quality starting point guard and Hinrich is still one of them. A team would throw more then expiring and a couple of second round picks for him. They would want young talent, I think that he is going to end up in Portland.

From everything I've heard, the Bulls are basically looking to dump Kirk for whatever they can get.

It still doesn't mean they can get it only from their division rival...

Yeah I agree. He would be a perfect sidekick for LeBron. A guy that can play D as well as score.

In a minute. We dont even have to give up much to get Artest as long as we are willing to take back SAR and/or Kenny Thomas(even bigger expirings next year with the rest of our expirings). Possibly take them both and swap picks?
