The Cavs are going to be free of so much cap space in the next 2 years. After this season Wallys 13, Snows 7.3, Smiths 4.8, and Jones 4.6 comes off books. Thats 29.7 mil off the books. Sure we are going to resign Gibson and West but they arent going to cost more then 5 mil a year each. Then for Lebrons final year under contract 09-10 Wallace will be in final year of 14 mil contract. Z has player option for 11.5 mil. Varejao has player option for 6.3 but we all know he'll be gone by then. Pavs will be in final year of contract for 5 mil. I believe the Cavs are setting up to not only sign Lebron in 10-11 but to also sign 2 other all stars. Maybe Wade, Bosh, Amare, or Dirk.

The Cavs will have a problem signing free agents for the next two years, if they want to keep that cap space for 2010. The Heat is having a similar problem - free agents do not want to sign short contracts. They all want three or four year deals. Ferry has dilemma, with only five players under contract for 2009-10. He will have to sign some players to fill out the roster and the better players will want a multi-year deal. Ferry's only consolation is that several other teams will also be eschewing multi-year contracts in the attempt to be ready for 2010.
