Oh the possibilities..

Post#1 » by bcortell » Tue Jul 15, 2008 4:07 am

So i'm reading all these things we could still do and it made me think how everyone (myself included to some extent) thought this offseason was over.. but there's still a possibility of a trade (ron ron or marion) and the mle (posey or jr smith).. thinking about these things.. i think we could put together a pretty, well probably very, good lineup..

west boobie
artest posey or jr
lebron sasha
wallace hicky

Just curious as to who you guys would rather have- ron ron or marion (or another potential trade candidate)- and who with the mle- (posey, jr smith, etc.)..

I think it would be easier to get a guard with the MLE so Marion would probably be a better person to go after since we could get pf and sg filled but i really like Artest so i personally prefer him.. not to mention that a guy who is all defensive team and averages 20 pts.. i mean we'd have the best defense in the nba easily.. what do you guys think?

Obviously some guys on the depth charts could be included in a trade- they are just to give an idea of what it would be like.

Also, if we traded for Artest, could we get him to sign an extension right away?

How about Kelenna Azubuike? He could be had for far less than the full MLE and would be a great addition I think. Plus we could still get another guy for the rest of the MLE if we wanted to, a backup PG perhaps.

Free agent possibilities (some way more possible than others, no doubt): Posey, JR Smith, Azubuike, Barnes, Childress, Krstic, Livingston, Delfino, and the much cheaper guys for vet minimum/LLE/or small portions of the MLE (like a Jason Williams type player)

Trade possibilities (but I can't see any of these being at all likely): Ellis (S&T), Marion, Artest, Felton, Wilcox, etc.

I think Ferry is trying to see who ties their hands up first. Wait and see who offers Josh Smith, see if Atl will match. If they match(likely a high offer) we swoop in and take Childress since they dont want their backs against the luxury tax. If they dont match we have a week to work out a S&T so they dont lose Smith for nothing. And hopefully we get him without breaking the bank.

Or if the Lakers match Turiaf and since it is frontloaded we can likely offer Vujacic a deal that wont be matched because they are against the cap as well.

Pretty much the same with the Iguodala situation, if Clippers give him an offer, Philly will have to match it(which they will likely do). If they dont they can orchestrate a S&T.

I'm sure you get it.

I think we are testing the waters for JR Smith but seeing what Denver is doing.

I dont know about getting Marion because I think Miami hwants too much for him.

Ron I think is likely and taking back Thomas or SAR wont be bad for our 2010.

Although a lot can change, I don't know how likely an Artest deal would be for the Cavs. There's supposedly 6 or 7 teams talking with the Kings about Artest, and the Cavs aren't one of them (I've seen at least 6 or so teams named).
