Question on Z

Post#1 » by eyejayem » Wed Jul 16, 2008 11:43 pm

What is going to happen to Z? Does he call it quits after his contract? Does he possibly help the team and sign for vets minimum afterward for 2 years(possibly as a backup/mentor/tutor)? Any chance he retires at the end of the season, he has a player option and I dont think he is money hungry?

Just wondering if everybody thinks he will just go off into the sunset in 2010.

I think he'll re-sign for cheap as long as he's healthy. He'd be a great guy off the bench.

I never thought that Z would play this long. When he signed his contract I thought he'd make it 3 yrs max. I don't think there is any way that he continues playing after this contract is up.

I agree with Outlaw, I think he will retire. I think he would like to be able to walk as an old man, and he has said before that any more foot issues would be the end. I wonder though, if we were very close, like losing in 6 or 7 games in the finals if that would motivate him to come back.

I know it's important to Z to play his entire career in Cleveland. I suspect he'll play out the deal and head back to Europe to play a season or two back home, though it sounds like Lithuania isn't so enticing for him anymore.

I hate to plant the seed again, but say Lebron departs after that season, Z moves along, and the team regresses back to Fratello-era mediocrity or worse. Tell me again why on earth Dan Gilbert keeps the team in Cleveland?

If LeBron leaves, the team automatically becomes among the worst in the NBA. It also loses about half of it's value. I think the immediate thought for Gilbert would be to move the team. But I guess it kind of depends on what the lease with the Q actually says.

Please, please, save the gloom and doom. Let the NY, and NJ fans worry about getting LBJ. And talk about the team leaving? Good god, this town has been beaten down so hard in the past, that it just seems like everyone expects the worse!

That was then this is now. One player. Thats it, just one player away from dominating. If you have been watching this team over the last 2+ decades you have to enjoy this moment right here in the now. Even if LBJ wanted to leave, the only way I see the team falling apart is if he just up and walks.

Now would he just leave his hometown team? If they screw him over or don't do everything in their power to help him bring a title to this city, I could see that. But, do you really think the team don't realize whats at stake here? From the $ Gilbert has spent on improvements to the overall franchise to lux tax paying, ect. The new management have been making all the right moves to keep LBJ in town.

The thing that I really want people to ask theirselves is this. Would Lebron leave his hometown team if they can compete for a title year in and year out? Not just like the last couple of years. I'm talking getting that one other player to help take some of that burden off LBJ's shoulders, so he has that player that should have been Larry H.

I have faith. When you have set in the Coliseum and watched an overweight Shawn Kemp and rooted for this team, you gotta realize these are the best of times. I'm sure Lebron knows what could happen to this franchise if he were to leave. I really don't think he would like to leave Cleveland and watch it sink into a hole.

The only way I see that is if they really screw this team up!
