With fellow guard Gibson now signed for five more years at roughly $20 million, it’s believed West is asking for a slightly more money per season, but not necessarily as long of a deal.

I wouldnt mind giving him a little more than boobie who is gonna be making roughly 4m per season on average. But its interesting that he wants a shorter deal, probably thinking that if he plays well he can get that big money down the line. So maybe a 3 yr deal worth 13.5m would be reasonable.

The article also mentions that ferry has said that he has been looking at free agents and trade possibilities so that is a good sign. It also says that tractor could be signed to make the 15 man roster barring any injuries........

A 3-year deal worth $14 million would be great. That would put his cap-number for 2010 (the only year us fans really need to worry about cap-room) at about $4.6million. That would mean Boobie and West combined would only take up about $9 million in cap-space for 2010...VERY reasonable.

we could make a team option for the 2010 season, or a player option.. because if he opts out we still get a ton of space to resign him. If he stays its good. If he doesnt do good and we add a team option, then we can let him go elsewhere and get the extra capspace ;)

I saw this blurb about the Delonte online which makes sense since he and his agent are pushing for starter money. Since Golden State doesn't have enough cap room left -- I don't see them as being able to make a crazy offer that the CAVs wouldn't match.

The Warriors are also reportedly interested in former Celtic Delonte West and the SF Chronicle reports that West might be close to signing an offer sheet. Since Delonte is a restricted free agent, the Cavs could match any offer the Warriors make to him. The Cavs are negotiating with West who reportedly seeking Beno Udrih type money (5 year/$32 million) and are also looking into possible replacements just to cover their backs. One possible alternative could be Orlando's Carlos Arroyo.

Cavs considering sign and trade for West??

Restricted free-agent Delonte West has drawn interest from around the league but has yet to sign an offer sheet. Other teams calculate that the Cavs will merely match any such offer sheet that West signs.

The Cavs and West continue to negotiate but sources say the two sides are not close to an agreement and some sign-and-trade scenarios have been discussed. The Cavs do want to bring West back.

If talks do not produce a long-term contract, West has the option of accepting the Cavs' qualifying offer of $2.76 million and then becoming an unrestricted free-agent after this coming season.

They're far apart, but Ferry and the Cavs have the distinct advantage in this situation. West's agent, I'm sure, is holding out for another team to make an offer. Considering no team right now can afford more than the MLE (if even that) for West, and most teams wouldn't even have West starting, we don't have to worry too much. Ferry's just going to give it some time, see how much interest other teams have, and then use the lack of interest to convince West's agent to compromise and lower their demands.

Yeah, I'm not too worried about it, he'll be a Cav.

Yeah, but we all remember what happened to Sasha and Andy. I think it is almost 100% that Delonte will be a Cav next year, but I would like to see him sign well before camp starts and hopefully he is signed to a deal that he likes because you always want a happy employee.

Well Delonte does not have Andy's agent, who we can all agree is a huge ass. And I picture West caring about the team a little more than Sasha, who's just oblivious to most things in life lol.

i hate sasha i wish he werent a cav! along with ben wallace and wally and joe smith the only good thing about those fools are that their contracts are almost up and can be valuable in trades as expierings before the trade deadline.

Did you really just say Joe Smith can't play and he's a fool??? Other than Z, Joe Smith was our best big in the playoffs last year. Sure he's old, but offensively and defensively he played TERRIFIC basketball, and I'm extremely glad we have him coming off the bench.

Oh, and Ben Wallace's contract is a negative right now. But I can agree with you about Wally.

Anyways, right now, I'm glad Sasha's a Cav, because Ferry didn't go after Posey, Pietrus, or Barnes, three guys I would've gladly taken as a swingman off the bench to replace Sasha. Unfortunately for us, Sasha is our best swingman off the bench (and that's pretty bad) :-?

Delonte agent is really doing his job in trying to pressure the CAVs for a better deal in seeking an over seas offer, but I don't think 5 million a season is a much better deal than what the CAVs are offering which is probably closer to the neighborhood of what the gave Pavs last year.

if the money is tax free, as seems to be the case, plus includes a free mansion and car, then the offer is closer to 8 million US annually; possibly more as the dollar continues to decline. west would be a fool not to take this.

Delonte West now considering Europe!!

I dont even know what to say lol.......

LeBron James could crush the world for an Olympic gold medal this summer, but the evolving power of the euro could cost him his Cleveland Cavaliers point guard.

This time, the overseas revolution of outbidding NBA teams for restricted free agents advances with Dynamo Moscow discussing a two-year, $10 million offer with Delonte West, a source close to West said on Thursday.

I'd consider Europe as well seeing how much money other players are getting.
