http://realgm.com/src_wiretap_archives/ ... on_artest/I think Sac got a pretty decent deal. Two 1st rounders (Greene and next years) and an expiring.

Interesting -- I guess some Kings fans can point to the value they got for him in two very low first round draft picks -- one from this year and one from next year -- but with his nutty behavior that's the best you could hope for.
Ron Artest set for deal to Rockets
Bobby Jackson, first-round pick to go to SacramentoThe Rockets will give up guard Bobby Jackson, a No. 1 draft pick next season and another player that the individual with knowledge of the trade could not name. Rockets general manager Daryl Morey could not be immediately reached for comment.
Because of contract considerations, the trade will not be announced until Aug. 14, though that would indicate the deal could include Rockets’ first round draft pick Donte’ Greene. Greene is not permitted to be traded until then, one month from when he signed with the Rockets.
There could also be other players involved to make the money match but none that the Rockets would plan to keep. The Rockets will also send the Kings cash in excess of $1 million.

Is Battier now expendable? I would like him paired up with Lebron. He obviously can D up anyone and then hit open threes. Maybe if Delonte is not going to sign, we can sign and trade him for Battier. The Rockets could use a PG because Alston is on his way down.

Trade Delonte then we have a hole at PG. Gibson & DJ is not a championship caliber duo at the point.
Delonte isn't great but he is the best we got right now at PG. Heck he might even be the 2nd best player on this team overall if you assume Z will continue to decline.

We obviously don't want to trade Delonte and leave our PG duties up to Gibson and Amon Ones. But if contract negotiations break down and we don't want to pay him what he wants. Or trade Varejao for Battier. So what I am asking is, number 1, is Battier expendable, 2 would Battier be a good fit playing along side Lebron, 3 what would it take to get him?

The Rockets are keeping Battier they like the fact that they have two great perimeter defenders.

Couldn't the Cavs have topped that offer? We have expirings contracts to give, we could have absorbed KT's contract, and we could've given them Varejao and next year's pick.

Donte Greene >>>>> Anything the Cavs could have offered in terms of young talent considering the Cavs are not going to give up Hickson with AV's move almost certain, and leaving us with 3 old front court players...
And there's no point in giving up Hickson for a one year rental who plays the same position as your best player...
