First I am all for the rumor of:

Ben Wallace

for

Udonis Haslem + Mark Blount

I think Mia is trying to see if they can get better but I think we can offer more through cash and/or the rights to Sasha Kahn(C). I think they would rather him then Darnell Jackson.

The second trade I would do is:

Eric Snow
09' 2nd rd pick (chi)

for

Darko Milicic

Now Darko didnt live up to the Orlando growth that he started showing but recieved limited minutes as he at times didnt fit in Memphis. But he shows the ability to rebound when giving the minutes and plays good defense(a blocking threat- we've never had) and still being young hopefully Z can teach him a thing or two and he could possibly start in the future. If we have to give Memphis the rights to the other player from last years 2nd rd draft from above I will. We will be stacked down low anyway. Or possibly we change the pick to our 1st and get Lowry for more insurance for Delonte.

Conclusion:
I think the important part of the deal is the battle for PF that Varajao can now go after. I dont automatically think it is Haslem's job. AV and Ben were similar defensive minded. AV could likely come to his senses and get a new agent and sign a reasonable deal. If not he is now even more expandable and can be combined with Wally and our 1st for a SG if we still need it. We have depth in the front court but I think we need to become stronger at the wings or if Delonte only signs the QO then at the PG also. If he signs the QO then I definately try to get Lowry in the Milicic deal and then trade Delonte and our 1st for JR Smith.

I can see both of these trades going down. As you said, we would probably have to add a little more in the Heat deal, as Haslem is better than Wallace, and it's not as if we're taking on longer contracts.

The 2nd deal also could work, but I think we may need to add in more than a 2nd.

I'm pretty baffled why we couldn't give the Thunder Snow instead of Smith. It would make more sense for us because we keep our post depth, and it makes sense for the Thunder because Snow's contract would not count on the books this season as he will be retiring. This makes me think that the Cavs wanted Smith included, as maybe they do have another deal lined up with Snow.

That makes a lot of sense. I can see that. I hope there is another trade before the season ends so we can see who fits and who doesnt after we adjust but before the trade deadline with possibly Wally, AV, Delonte if he signs the QO, and our 1st to deal with. Or Mo Williams if he doesnt fit.

Well, Ferry could definitely have something else lined up. There's already confirmed rumors that he has a few options he's already considering.

But maybe OKC preferred Smith. Snow is not guaranteed to get retired/his contract off the books. That's up to the league, and often only happens to players who've been hurt a couple seasons and actually had a role on the team. Plus Snow would just add to their glut of PG's, and perhaps they view Smith as someone who can have a very positive influence on someone like Durant, Green, and perhaps Wilcox. And of course, Smith would actually contribute to the team this year, unlike Snow.

I'm not positive that's how it works. Even if that is true, who's to say Snow would turn down free money? Plus, like I said, I think OKC wanted a player who can at least contribute. And Joe can be a very nice influence on their young forwards.

It would be great if the Cavs could add a young big that still had some semblance of potential like Channing Frye or even *gulp* Darko. It would probably take too many trade assets at this point so I see them adding a serviceable journeyman that can be had on the cheap. Maybe a Mikki Moore type could fit the bill?

The Cavs would still have ending contracts and future picks to make a big splash by the trading deadline if the opportunity presents itself.

Am I the only person who really is not a big Haslem fan? Sure he hustles and can hit open shots but man, he's one of the most non physical PF's I've ever seen. It's like having a SF play the position. That really is not the kind of guy that I think we need.

I agree Outlaw. Udonis is a lunchpail type guy but with Ben and Andy already on the roster I don't see Haslem as a great fit. Cavs could use a 4th big that can come off the bench, hit some shots, grab a few boards and not grumble about that role. Haslem would also cost the Cavs a nice asset like Delonte. I think Ferry is saving all his 'real' trade assets for that big acquisition down the road.

Ultimately they will need a young center to replace Z but don't think they're in a position to address that issue now.

Actually I'm not much of a Darko fan. Wouldn't be surprised if Marc Gasol is the starter in Memphis by the end of the season.

Darko's a scrub...He's too slow and soft to deserve the *potential* tag.
