IMO now that the Cavs have a shoot 1st pg we need a defencive sg who can hit open 3's. I dont think that we need another wing player looking to score. So IMO here is a list of players that would FIT for the Cavs:

Shooters
Cuttino Mobley (LAC)
Matt Carroll (CHA)
Daequan Cook (MIA)
JJ Redick (ORL)

Defenders
Tony Allen (BOS)
DJ Strawberry (PHO)

Shooters & Defenders
Shane Battier (HOU)
Mickael Pietrus (ORL)
Raja Bell (PHO)
DeShawn Stevenson (WAS) :-? he does fit the profile thou...

I think the best fit would be Battier or Bell but I'm not sure we could get either of those players. Any other suggestions or trade ideas?

We still need a #2 option. We still don't have that.

But overall, we need another perimeter defender.

I don't see getting any of those guys.

The guy that fits that team real well is Gerald Wallace. He's the guy I'd target with our trading assets.

I think that Mo could be an ok 2nd option, next to LBJ you dont need much and Mo will get alot of open shots. I would guess his ppg around 19-22. As for G-Force we dont have anything that the Cats want. Expirings won't work because they are not rebuilding, they are trying to make the playoffs.

If Mo Williams is our future #2 option, we're in big trouble. He is a nice player and good scorer but he doesn't have the ability to be a #2 scorer. His PPG will be around 16.

The Bobcats like AV and we know it. They already tried to trade Wallace twice and I'm sure he's available. I bet if we offer them something like Wally, AV, 1st round pick for Mohammed and Wallace, it might not be too bad of a deal.

^I don't think we can trade them AV though. I wonder if there's a time limit for not trading AV to the Bobcats, or if it's for the length of his contract. I'd love that trade, however.

pavs from 07 would be perfect right now...

^^^ My thoughts exactly. Here's hoping last year was just a combination of many terrible things and that he can come back and play like he did for us down the stretch and throughout the playoffs in 07. Absolutely perfect fit.

Who exactly was our #2 option last year? And were we in trouble? Mo scored 17 ppg last season w/ out LBJ why exactly is average going down w/ all the open shots he's going to get from LeBron?

I dont think we can trade AV to the Bobcats till december, and if we did get G-Force he is not a pf. Hasn't everyone on this board been saying we dont want a sf to play pf for us?

As of right now Mo Williams is the #2 option. That's not the end of the world. The Cavs don't need a better #2 option they just need more balance between perimeter and bigmen scoring. Big Z is older and outside of him there is no one we can expect to be a consistent scorer from the PF/C position.

Gerald Wallace would be a great fit on the wing for the Cavs. He's a solid defender. Guys like Ray Allen or Rip Hamilton would give him fits having to chase them all over the court, but other than that he would be fine defensively guarding the tougher wing matchup.

He can play PF if the Cavs are going small. The Cavs plan on using LeBron at PF some and have in the past so that wouldn't be a problem with Gerald Wallace either. A healthy Gerald Wallace would be a great fit. The Cavs would still have potential big men problems though so that should be addressed first.

I would like someone who we can continue to mold. I like JR Smith and he would be my #1 because I believe he can be a great 2nd option even though all our scoring will be in the backcourt but his athletics and possible with some teaching he could be a decent defender.

My next option would be someone who made strides and leaps on defense this last year. Matrell Webster on Portland, He's 21, 6'7 and 215 to 220. His largest stride came on defense but because he plays the SG and SF he can fit Browns big guard lineup. He can hit the three and rather take threes even though his size says he should drive. When Roy was out at the end of the season Webster had a bunch of 20 pt games.

So why can we get him? Well it is rumored that since Webster and Outlaw both are on their last year and both primarily play the SF since they are locked at the SG and PF they will have to choose which one they have to keep and it is rumored to be Outlaw even though his value is higher in the trade market.

I would somehow like to work a deal for Webster and Frye who also came on at the end of the season with a string of double-doubles.

i brought this up on the bobcats board and people didn't seem interested due to losing a 1st round pick and having another big that doesn't score and losing a scorer in wallace

I dont know why people think G.wallace is the perfect fit for sg. hes one concussion away from retirement and he cant shoot. but id love his defense.

i think maybe we should look at mike miller again?

hes a huge gaurd who can shoot amazing and has hookups with lebron on team usa.

we'd have to probably take back cardinal, but i think itd be worth it. maybe somthing like... wally for mike miller + cardinal + 2nd round pick?
then we could trade delonte west to ny for david lee and marty collins

new roster would be:

Mo Will/ Boobie/ Collins
Mike Miller/ Sasha Pavs
Lebron/ Kinsley
David Lee/ Wallace/ Hickson
Big Z/ Anderson V

i'd absolutely cream my pants if we did this.

I'm actually fine with the team the Cavs have right now going into camp. They'll probably need another big because if the ages of Big Z and Ben, so other than picking up a cheap big I'm fine..... for now.

The Cavs need to find out what Pavs and AV are going to bring before they make their next big move. If there's a deal that makes sense with Delonte then I'm all for it, but if there isn't a deal that makes sense the Cavs should force him to sign the deal they want him to or take the QO.

With the exception of trading Delonte in a deal that makes sense, they should assess what they have before making a major move.

Z was our #2 option and yes we were in trouble last year...

Mo scored 17 without LeBron, yes I understand.

His points will go down because he's not going to be getting nearly as many minutes here as he did in Milwaukee, as well as shot opportunities.

wallyboots wrote:I dont think we can trade AV to the Bobcats till december, and if we did get G-Force he is not a pf. Hasn't everyone on this board been saying we dont want a sf to play pf for us?

Wallace would play a wing for us, what's wrong with that?

True about the injuries.

He can't shoot but do we really need another shooter? We already have West, Gibson, Williams, Szczerbiak and Sasha. We don't need more shooters. We need more slashers.

Neither of those are good deals for the other team. Not even close.

While I dont think Mo is a legit #2 right this second, I sincerely believe he can turn into one. He kinda reminds me Gil Arenas when he was in GS.

well golden state fans seem to want to do SJax for snow and 1st round pick.

christ, id do that in a second!

hed fit well on this team.

then we can trade west and a pick for david lee and mardy collins, or wally and a pick for kirilenko

Mo Will/ Boobie/ Collins
S. Jackson/ Pavs
Lebron/ Kinsley
AK-47/ Big ben/ Hckson
Big Z/ AV

that would absolutely make me cream my pants.

The only problem with Jackson is that he's looking for a huge payday. It seems that GSW has a bit of an issue because they've tossed out quite a few dollars and that might not square with their finances. So I think there might be an outside chance that GSW would make such a trade (but only an outside chance). That being said, I'm not a Jackson fan because of his thuggish behavior back from his Indy days. However, the Cavs would go out of their minds if they could get Jackson for this.

And there might be a problem with SJax trying to get that huge payday- his agent is Dan Fegan...

this is probably completely wrong, but maybe sjax wants a extension because the warriors wont be a contender for a couple of year? so hed like to stay on a contender, but if hes traded to the cavs hed be on a instant contender and would accept not getting an extension?

i dont know, but i really hope its true
