j.r. smith
Whats the word on him im still not hearing anything... Nuggets fans are saying they reached a vocal agreement with him but thats just word of mouth. I think he is an ideal fit for sg on this team and im pretty sure denver hasn't signed him yet. There were rumors earlier in the offseason about us being interested i wonder if thats who we are currently pushing for?

I'm tired of getting my hopes up but if getting JR Smith is the reason why we havent introduced Mo Williams as a Cav I could wait til the season opener. I think we could do almost anything to get him. But we are dreaming.

I wouldnt be so sure eyejam. The nuggs board is talking about how they would like to land Delonte West. Now that being said, we know and they definitely know that Delonte alone will not be enough to get him. However, I am more than willing to give a package like Delonte, Sacha or Andy, and even a second/first for JR Smith. I know that may be overpaying, but we need to seriously land a solid two guard. Wally Z aint gonna cut it and I know we all like Boobie for 3.....but dude is not a complete player. Lastly, I really do believe we need another low post threat, who can score with his back to the basket. Give me those two things, and I am a happy man.

The Nugget board member don't want to do a sign and trade. They believe that they can offer West an MLE type offer sheet and the CAVs won't match which I don't believe is the case -- but they can dream too.
JR Smith right now is a one dimensional scorer who has a lot of baggage too like when his friend got killed when he was driving in less than a safe manner and other incidents.
Trading Delonte, Varejao or a 1st would probably give the Denver some srong thought in pulling the trigger -- but that is way too much for this risky character guy. He's young enough to take a chance on, but not to over pay by that much. I know that coach Brown can teach anyone to play defense, but he would have a project in teaching Smith defense since right now he's not that interested in defense.

they have no choice it doesnt seem that the nuggets are willing to offer what he wants...... Fact is we have two holes on this team we need a scoring 4 and a 2 gaurd. And j.r smith fits the bill for what we need from a 2 better than any other player that is AVAILIBLE. We might have our 4 position in place with hickson so if we add smith that might be the last piece. Im not sure what denver would want i wouldnt be apposed to some sort of deal involving varejao and west and maybe a 2nd. I am a bigger fan of smith than most here i must admit i would be willing to give up anyone outside of lebron to bring him to cleveland because i think he is a real star in the making. The problem though with trading varejao is that leaves us weak up front really week, we cant go into the season expecting anything from jj besides the bench being warm..... with us losing joe smith that leaves us with only two reliable big men in wallace and z, which isnt very strong to begin with but on top of that they are both old... meaning they cant carry big minutes everynight. Giving up varejao means we have to bring in a big to come off the bench and be able to hold his own for 20 25 min a game. There are alot of guys in the league that can do that but i think in order for us to give up andy would mean we need to involve a 3rd team

While this may be bad news for many of you who have been visiting the Nuggets board looking for a JR trade, it can also be a good thing as maybe it will bring West down in his thinking.

Re: j.r. smith
So now whom do we target?
West, Szczerbiak, Varejao for Crawford, Randolph, Lee, Collins
I know you guys don't want any Knicks, but this might be our last option.

^The CAVs are not nearly that desperate to take on Randolph. You do realize that David Lee has significant salary ambitions (like Varejao 10 million a season) being in his last season of his rookie which means you are willing to gambling the CAVs future cap flexibility for Randolph which would NOT be a very good bet IMO.

Zebo? Say It Ain’t So!
Think about it: Portland got better once Randolph was shipped. The first time Zebo got big minutes was during the 2003-04 season - his third in the league - and it was also the first time in two decades that the Blazers missed the playoffs altogether. The following season, they lost 55 games with Randolph missing 36 games with a microfracture surgery.
Zebo came back the following year in ‘05-06 to assume the role as the team’s leader - and the Blazers underwent their darkest season, possibly in franchise history, with a 21-61 finish amid rumors of the team moving.
He’s also Charmin-soft. For a guy who is 6′9″ and 260, he spends quite a lot of time away from the basket and on the perimeter instead of around the rim. He is also the worst finisher in the league at the power forward position, getting just three dunks last season in 69 games. You read right: three dunks. Dude makes Drew Gooden look like Dwight Howard. Dwayne Jones crushed more than this cat.

Re: j.r. smith
Why you'd think that a backcourt of Williams and Crawful could work I have no idea. Some already consider Williams to be a chucker and then you want to bring in Crawford who is 100% usda prime chucker to partner with him? Yeah, I know I'm considered the no trade guy, but c'mon.

I'd like JR. say what you want about his attitude but the man plays with some swagger. He wasn't afraid of Kobe and took it to kobe in the first round last year.
