I still see him getting 30 minutes a game this year. Not sure whether he'll be starting at the 2 or not however.

pg: Mo 32- West 12- Gibson 4
sg: Wally-12 Pavs 10 West 12 Gibson 14
Assuming all our guards healthy 30 is tooo much! I'm not sure about Wally's and Pav's min's. Both combining 20-25 min.@sg is fair I guess.
I give Delonte an average of 25.
man we're deep.

Delonte will be a very valuable guard. #1 defense at PG at end of game. Will move between both guard positions during game. Will be very valuable to the CAV's.

Mo won't come off the bench... period. He's our second best offensive player.. on the team. He adds a new dimension to the team. Maybe if we were the Spurs and had a second scorer besides our star we could afford to bring Mo off the bench (in a Ginobli-esque role) but it isn't happening on this team.
My guess:
Mo (32)/ Delonte (10)/ Gibson (6)
Wally (20)/ Delonte (14)/ Gibson (14)
Bron (38)/ Pavs (10)
IF Pavs can regain some form (and Wally continues his shooting slump):
Mo (32)/ Delonte (10)/ Gibson (6)
Pavs (24)/ Delonte (12)/ Gibson (12)
Bron (38)/ Wally (10)

i just dont think it would be a terrible idea - not that i think we would do it

i don't see why you would do that.. bring a guy off the bench when our starting five lacks offensive? It just doesn't seem like an efficient use of mo.

it really has nothing to do with mo...he'll get his 30+ minutes regardless of whether he starts or not
i just think delonte plays better in the starting role - because he pretty much stunk with seattle last season when he was coming off the bench
bringing mo off the bench maximizes delonte better...west and gibson are kind of the opposite players as west is better starting and boobs is better off the bench
obviously mo starting brings us better offense and i cant wait to see him and lbj together on the court, but an ineffective delonte lessens the impact that mo would have. its just something to consider if delonte is not playing as well as he can

Delonte will see his minutes, he's probably our second best guard on the team, behind Mo. He'll see minutes at both spots. The dilemma is he's our second best point guard, and our best SG offensively. The only thing holding him back is his size.
PG: Mo (32) West (12) Boobie (4)
SG: Pavs/Wally (18), Boobie (16), West (14)
SF: LeBron (38), Pavs/Wally/Kinsey (10)
I think that whoever loses the starting SG spot between Pavs and Wally will fall out of the rotation... more likely Pavs due to his injury history and lack of competency.

Pavs has the potential to do everything well, but currently does not do anything well--aside from turning the ball over, he's good at that. Wally will have a place on this team as a shooter. I personally believe that Delonte can and should start at SG. He is 6'3, but he has a 6'8 wingspan. He is also very athletic and has good bounce off the floor. He can effectively harass 6'6 SG, and I am not worried about him getting shot over. If backed down, we have Ben or Andy as help defense anyway. At least he won't get burnt, then there's not really anything Ben or Andy could do aside from fouling. Also, imagine the defensive tenacity of a full court pressure that includes Mo and Delonte, to go with LeBron reading passing lanes and flying to the ball. We would not always extend full court, of course. However, imagine the tenacity when we need it.

I am not sure that Delonte would be good as a starting 2 guard. I think his size could be a real defensive liability against taller 2's. Though Wally is not any better on D.
Though I will say that I used to really enjoy watching Rondo and Delonte backcourt when he was with the Celtics, so maybe it could work for you guys.

I like the idea of playing West and Williams together, with Wally at the 3 and Lebron at the 4 with Varejao as the big. Good quick lineup that can force turnovers and shoot the 3.

You mean for short stints? I have a feeling that lineup would get beat up badly defensively.

Exactly. Just as a change of pace lineup when the other team goes small. That group can really run the floor and they all rebound well for their spots.
I think the lineup at the end of tight games will be the above except put Big Ben in for Wally and move Lebron to the 3. Swap in offense/defense with Williams and Boobie maybe.

That would be a scrappy lineup, but Wally does NOT rebound well for a small forward, I don't thinks so at least.
...
No Delonte West tonight???
