Chris Kaman

I have been talking Chris Kaman since last season and right now in the wiretap he is being shopped which has brought down his value even more. A double-double machine who avg 15/13/3 blks last season. I think having that ability is worth what he's being paid and is not rediculously out of budget. I know we have Z for another season but with Kaman's value down and wanting to preserve Z til the playoffs Clips may go to clear cap(Wally) and make a big run Boozer, or get lucky with a low offer for Odom or Marion to team with Baron this offseason with being the one of few 2009 teams under the cap. Or maybe they would take Ben and be big players in 2010 with all their big contracts besides Baron coming off the books. Lebron/Mo/Kaman?

How is kamans contract? He is a good shotblocker, rebounder, and insider scoreer, but he is not that good at defense besides the blocks he gets. Its interesting and would not suck it we traded for him.

Kaman would be perfect as our future Center imo...
There could be somethign in the works with the cavs who knows. The insider on rcf said we had talks with a team about av/wally/1st round pick, but of coures he couldnt give us no more info. The Clips want to get rid of Mobley too so if you match up the salaries its almost perfect. He didn't name Wally but he said we can probably guess the player other than AV which makes it obvious, but he also said we get back a solid big/swingman in the deal and would probably be better off long term without AV.
Imagine a future core with mo williams, chris kaman, lebron james, jj hickson, daniel gibson, and delonte west. Then we would have more expirings next season to make a run at a 2 guard if needed.....

Kaman is OK. When I have watched him he seems a bit turnover prone and didn't show the best bball IQ. But he can finish around the basket and rebound.
Depending on what we gave up, I'd be for trading for him to split time with Z.

So we get Kaman and Mobley for that deal above and then sign Mcdysse because Detroit looks bad with Iverson and will likely get 5th to 8th seed.
So a lineup of:
Mo Williams/ Daniel Gibson
DelonteWest/ Cutino Mobley
Lebron James/ Aleksander Pavolovic
Ben Wallace/ Antonio McDysse/ JJ Hickson
Zydrunas Ilgauskas/ Chris Kaman
Wow...... I can see that straight to the finals. Who beats that team with that bench. Who outrebounds? Who outscores? Who scores on that defense?

Kaman would fill the Z role, only with more quickness and better shot blocking.
Any move to acquire him would almost have to involve Z, or else it's pointless.
I'm a big Kaman fan, not just because I know him a little and I play against his brother all the time. He's darn annoying to play against and he has a nice variety of finishing moves around the basket.

i doubt that it would take Z to make the trade, if i was the clippers i wouldnt want Z, id take Andy. not that i dont like Z but Andy is younger and if the clippers dont resign him then the have wally and andy's contract expiring.
the oly potential problem i see with this deal is if it gets done would Kaman be willing to go to the bench and backup Z till he retires or we let him go. and if he wont would Ben be willing to go to the bench and have Kaman or Z start at PF.

If I were the Cavs, I would probably offer Wally, Snow, 1st for Camby, Mobley.
Z, Camby, LeBron, Mobley, Mo seems like a tough squad to me.

^^Are you kidding me? That would really put us over the cap.. But since you are part of the Knicks' front office, then I can understand why you would do that trade.

Or our
current center. I'd much rather see Z coming off the bench for about 20-22 minutes per game.

Hey, even better.

100% agree. Camby is old but still produces. I would rather see a younger Kaman than Camby. Kaman would work out for the long run.

im thinking that Kaman is defently becoming a possiblity. i know the clips GM said rcently there are no deals being worked out involving Kaman. but with them acquring Zach Randolph and having Camby. Kaman is most likely the odd man out (i dont see them trading two guys that the traded for to another team) hopefully we will be able to get him i know Ben and Z are playing well, but if the chance to get him is there i dont want to pass it up

I still don't think we have a chance at Kaman but i could see them being interested in AV and West for him.. but that would obviously hurt our SG depth.. (They would get a good backup big and a SG since they lost mobley).. so we would have to have a third team where we could ship wally to for a SG.. which would make me hope we would really need Cha to do a Wally and a 1st for him or NJ does VC for Wally and a 1st. (also just got the idea that maybe we should pursue felton- IMO, he could play SG next to Mo) don't know what other wings we could pursue if that's the price that LAC ask for..

Trading Anderson to get Kaman does not help the Cavs. While they get a C they'd lose their backup PF and their defensive stopper in the frontcourt.

I didn't say it did help the Cavs.. but i would imagine that LAC would ask for AV if there was a trade.

I don't want Vince Carter. If we get him we wouldn't have as much cap to bring in one of the free agent stars in 2010. I would rather wait till 2010 and get a younger SG instead of Vince who is getting up there in years.

I would rather keep Varejao than to have him involved in a trade for Kaman.
