12-3 is the best start in team history
#1 offense in the NBA
in the top 5 in 5 major offensive and 5 major defensive categories
our 34 point halftime lead tonight was a franchise record
since the pistons loss 4 games ago, we haven't trailed a single second.
Tuesday night was the first time in 7 years the cavs had 4 bench players score double figures, we did it again tonight.
There's more here
http://www.cleveland.com/cavs/index.ssf ... _beat.htmlthose are some highlights
Also, we've already won 9 games by 10 or more points. We only won 10 games by 10 or more points all season last year.
Also, this story is about the how well the lakers are playing
http://www.basketball-reference.com/blog/?p=393But look at cleveland - by the SRS rating system to rank teams that basketball reference uses, our current rating, if sustained over the season, would be the 8th best ever.
Here’s the list of the NBA’s all-time best teams by SRS:
Year Team W L SRS Result
2009 LAL* 12 1 14.00 ???
1971 MIL 66 16 11.91 NBA Champions
1996 CHI 72 10 11.80 NBA Champions
1972 LAL 69 13 11.65 NBA Champions
1972 MIL 63 19 10.70 Lost-WCF
1997 CHI 69 13 10.70 NBA Champions
1992 CHI 67 15 10.07 NBA Champions
2009 CLE* 10 3 9.31 ???
2008 BOS 66 16 9.31 NBA Champions
1986 BOS 67 15 9.06 NBA Champions
1994 SEA 63 19 8.68 Lost-WCQF

another stat - LeBron's PER of 32.97, is the best in the league and if sustained for the season, would be the highest in NBA history.

Looking at that SRS chart it really hits just how major an upset that Denver-Seattle series was back in '94. The 10th (to this point) best team all-time and they got bounced by a team that didn't win a road game all season against a team that wound up with a winning record. Amazing.
I've noticed the Cavs are getting much better at sustaining big leads this year, hence the 10+ point victory improvement. I don't know the metrics in the NBA but in the NFL if you want to win titles (generally speaking) you need to dominate your opponents, not just win.

I was looking at basketball reference and Zydrunas is 19th among active players in career PER.
Our schedule is pretty week next couple of weeks so we are likely to keep piling on the wins and the stats.

make that 10 already this year. We've already matched last year's total for blowout wins.

The cavs have gone 14-1 over the last 15, which is the first time in franchise history we've won 14 out of 15.

Hollinger now projects we have a 46% chance to win the championship, which is greater than LA and Boston combined.
http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/hollinger/playoffoddsand we're the clear #1 in his power rankings
http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/hollinger/powerrankingand our average margin of victory in the last 10 games is 17.0
And LeBron is pretty clearly the most efficient player (with Z at #11)
http://insider.espn.go.com/nba/hollinger/statisticsand we continue to have the most efficient offense
http://insider.espn.go.com/nba/hollinger/teamstatsas well as the 4th most efficient defense.

Those numbers are only gonna get better in the next few weeks, we got some real cupcakes on the schedule...actually our schedule doesn't get difficult again for awhile. The 2nd half of the season will be more of a challenge though, we need to stay close to BOS to have a shot at the #1 seed

At this point last year, the Cavs were:
1. 9-9
2. LeBron James missed his 2nd of 6 games in a row
3. LeBron James was averaging 40 minutes a game (that stat is skewed because he only played 19 minutes in Detroit because of his injury)
4. Their 9 losses came by an average of 12.75 points
5. Their 9 wins came by an average margin of 5.25 points
6. They had one victory in which they won by 10 points or more (At Minnesota)
7. Dwayne Jones was averaging 9.50 minutes a game
8. Anderson Varejao was still holding out
9. Larry Hughes was shooting 29% and already missed 12 games due to injury
10. The Cavs were averaging 97.50 PPG
11. The Cavs were giving up 101.25 PPG
12. The Cavs already played 2 games in OT
13. The Cavs already used three different starting linueps
This year, the Cavs:
1. Are are 15-3 and have a 3.5 game lead over Detroit for the Central (it was pretty much out of reach already at this point last year)
2. LeBron James is healthy (as is the whole team)
3. LeBron James is averaging 35.75 MPG and already sat out the 4th quarter in 4 separate games
4. Their 3 losses came by an average of 8 points
5. Their 14 wins came by an average of 15 points
6. They already have 12 wins that were by over 10 points (they had 10 all last year)
7. Larry Hughes is still complaining about his role in Chicago
8. The Cavs are averaging 103.6 PPG
9. The Cavs are giving up 92.7 PPG
10. The Cavs' biggest win was 36 points (vs NYK)
11. The Cavs played zero games that reached OT
12. The Cavs have only used one starting lineup

Is there still room on the bandwagon?
LOL. Just kidding.
Just wondering. Given the great start, do you see Wally getting moved for another impact player or do you think Ferry will just ride out the chemistry and see if he can win it all with this group?

Only for Mike Miller at this point. That is the only player I want for Wally.
As far as team we have two bumps to the championship. We match up well against Boston and with Mo we should have the advantage as compared to last season. And then the Lakers, so my hopes that Mike Brown is going to be the evil genius and become the first coach to devise a legit gameplan (that works) against the triangle offense. Pacers kept it close and beat the Lakers last week, and we have the best closer in the business after last year.

we've won 8 in a row by 12 points or more, which ties the longest such streak in league history. The longest streak of winning by 10 points or more is 10 games.

After Detroit's loss to the Blazers earlier today, we are now 5½ games ahead of them.

I think you mean that they lost to the Knicks. After the way that we tend to annihilate them it's pretty hard to believe that Detroit would lose to them.
