What if...( Our version of the big three)
Ok, yes another "What if..." If this deal was on the table at the trade deadline what would we be willing to do this?
Cleveland Trade Breakdown
Incoming Players
Vince Carter
6-6 SG / SF
Etan Thomas
6-10 C
Antawn Jamison
6-9 SF / PF
Outgoing Players
J.J. Hickson
6-9 PF
Aleksandar Pavlovic
6-7 SG / SF
Anderson Varejao
6-10 PF / C
Eric Snow
6-3 PG
Wally Szczerbiak
6-7 SF / SG
New Jersey Trade Breakdown
Incoming Players
Wally Szczerbiak
6-7 SF / SG
Outgoing Players
Vince Carter
6-6 SG / SF
Washington Trade Breakdown
Incoming Players
J.J. Hickson
6-9 PF
Aleksandar Pavlovic
6-7 SG / SF
Anderson Varejao
6-10 PF / C
Eric Snow
6-3 PG
Outgoing Players
Etan Thomas
6-10 C
Antawn Jamison
6-9 SF / PF
Why?
Well the Jamison trade rumor has come up and a lot of Wiz fans were talking about a straight salary dump for Wally and we take Songalia. Well If we gave them three players who can play. JJ(19 yrs old) next to McGee(18 yrs old) may work for the future and AV would be a great filler who if he works they can resign or just let him walk. Pavs gives them depth at the 2 and 3. If we can move Snow's contract then they include Etan so we can get a backup C and not have to play Ben at the 5 since he has been perfect playing the 4. No 1st should be included if they were willing to just take Wally, they are getting their 1st in JJ. Jamison's defense has been spoken about but the team we are trying to beat is Boston and the Wizards (I Believe) swept the Boston series last year or was the only team with a winning record against the defending champs behind Jamison tearing up Garnett plus we don't lose Ben and his defense has been key. I would consider getting Antawn off the bench like the PF version of Ginobli.
The Vince trade has been spoken about and it has been debated and the deal supposedly stalled in the summer over a pick, then right before the season Cavs supposedly didn't want the trade after NJ was rumored to lower the asking price. Now with how Vince is playing a pick is likely necessary. And if NJ were to do this trade they could possibly be shooting themselves in the foot by keeping Lebron in Cle so they may definately want a pick which I am willing to give.
But why do I debate it?
If Lebron stays Bosh will come and that is plain and simple, I dont think he stays in Toronto. So my problem is will Toronto play hardball because I think we can give them a better offer than any team out there. How? Toronto is and will always be a bad place for free agents so we try to please all ends. Bosh gets his most money in a S&T so we offer Carter,Jamison, and 1st for Bosh and filler which I think would be a better deal then they will get anywhere else. But if they dont take it we are stuck and can't offer Bosh a Max deal unless he threatens management to take that deal or he walks and they get nothing.
The other insurance is we still have a team if Lebron walks with a trio of Mo/Carter/Jamison. Not great but a decent chance at some things if all else fails.
Cleveland
Mo Williams/ Boobie Gibson
Vince Carter/ Delonte West
Lebron James/ Antawn Jamison
Ben Wallace/ Antawn Jamison/ Darnell Jackson
Zydrunas Ilgauskas/ Ben Wallace/ Etan Thomas
Jamison becomes the PF version of Manu. The depth is rediculous and the floor is spaced out. With different playmakers besides the King. I would take this team over todays Lakers. It looks like a video game team. Go small the big three playing the frontcourt or go big with Lebron and Carter playing the backcourt, Jamison at SF.

Re: What if...( Our version of the big three)
take out jamison and id do it, i think vince carter would be good to have on the team, but jaminson is not nessacry, JJ jas been plaing really good, so has Ben and so has AV and dranell has been getting better to. so right now PF is not an issue.
which is way i like this lineup:
Mo Williams/ Boobie Gibson
Vince Carter/ Delonte West
Lebron James/ Sasha
Ben Wallace/ JJ/AV/ Darnell Jackson
Zydrunas Ilgauskas/ AV/ Ben Wallace

Sorry, Jamison does not play defense so Brown will not play him.
Vince's salary is crap. No thanks
I'm just not interested in player that make us just as good or maybe a liitle deeper. I want someone who will get us over the top. I don't see that players name here.

Re: What if...( Our version of the big three)
So pretty much you want to kill our future with this trade, giving up JJ, Av, and Wally for 3 guys over 30 with long term deals. You should probably take a look at rcf, there is a thread about JJ's position on this team in terms of whether he would be traded or not posted by W&G. Basically anything short of a young stud that would be here for the long haul will not do it. So basically if we could get someone like Bosh or Amare then we would move JJ. Guys like Jamison and Carter will not be enough for us to move him according to what W&G wrote.
According to Wind and Gold, a few teams already proposed trades to us that involved JJ but Ferry has declined so far. The Cavs have high hopes for him, they think he can be a future allstar or borderline allstar in a few years.

Only way I would trade for Carter, is if it guaranteed us a championship. And I don't know if it does.

No way do we want Vince Carter. Have you all forgot how he quits on his team and he's probably more injury prone than Larry "The Twig" Hughes.

Re: What if...( Our version of the big three)
I like the Big 3 we already have in James, Z and Mo. We have the best offense in the league right now, why do we need to bring in guys that don't play D and will cause chemistry problems.
I'm all for acquiring a young guy with talent. But we are too good to shake things up trading for washed up, has beens.

I don't know, I like Etan Thomas and all, but I don't think he counts towards a "big 3"

He wasn't included in the big three, it just happened that we were receiving three players in return. Id imagine the big three would be LBJ, Carter, and Mo. I personally don't want any piece of Carter or Jamison.
Carter- old, long term deal, from the same family as T-Mac...not a winner
Jamison- he will be like 35 or 36 when his contract ends, he is more of a SF in a PF body, can't play defense, but he is a great guy who doesn't cause any problems
If we are going to get anyone I would try to get Redd, a big man coming of the bench (maybe something like Kaman), or a defensive wingman (not sure who yet)
Is Larry Hughes having fun yet?

I can agree with you that Carter quits on his team but more injury prone than Hughes?
During the last 5 years, Carter has played 387 games compared to Hughes' 296.
If you want to go career wise, then Carter has played a total of 715, as opposed to Larry's 629.
They are both drafted the same year, BTW.

Re: What if...( Our version of the big three)
Not even a remote possibility of this happening. Washington would give us Antawn ... nobody wants him...not at that price and for the term he has.
Anderson is not leaving Cleveland... not in a trade or otherwise.
Snow will not be included in any deal unless we HAVE to put him in there.
As for Hickson, as someone already stated, he is not being traded unless we have a young stud coming-in. The only scenario where that may happen is a trade with the Clippers for Kaman, who they have been trying to trade since they picked-up Camby this past summer.
Etan Thomas? He already was a Cavalier... we sent him packing. He is a decent big... but he is nothing more than a rotation player, and he has attitude problems.
No thanks, no thanks, and no thanks.
