Why is Lebron's PER So High

Post#1 » by Baseline Runner » Wed Dec 3, 2008 11:51 pm

This season so far Lebron has the highest PER in the history of basketball. His stats are not that special compared to guys like Jordan or even earlier Lebron seasons so why is his PER so high?

You need to take into account that hes playing 5 minutes less than every other season but his rookie yr.

Lets look at lebrons 2005-2006 season compared to this season
31.4 ppg,6.6 apg,7 rpg,1.6 spg, 0.9 bpg

this season lebron avgs more rebounds, .2 less apg, higher steals/blocks, higher ft/fg % and plays get this 6.8 less mpg

PER calculates the players efficiency
Lebron is now doing prty much everything he did other seasons ,with 6 minutes to spare
u mad?

Maybe because he has the most impact on a team than any other player in the league.

He has the highest PER in league history right now, more than any season Wilt and Jordan ever had, not just this year.

PER is adjusted for both minutes played and pace. He also is putting up career highs in FG% and FT% and assist/to ratio, which all help PER.

Nice so those are all things that come with experience. Better free throw%, less turnovers, better rebounding, he's rounding out his game.

FT% is probably the biggest difference. Him shooting so well from the line greatly increases his efficiency. Look at the last game against the Knicks. He shot 5-10 but scored 21pts because he shot 10-10 from the FT line.

Actually quietly Lebron improving his FT% like that is a HUGE deal, alot of guys 6 seasons in are what they are, but he is still improving his game.

Bron's stats adjusted to 40minutes: 31 pts 8reb 7.2ast 2.4stl 1block 3.2 TO! Not, too shabby.
