Trade Thought

Post#1 » by DariusRickyMilesDavis » Sat Dec 13, 2008 6:52 am

PHI Sends:

PF Elton Brand
C Samuel Dalembert

CLE Sends:

SG Wally Szczerbiak
PG Eric Snow
SG Aleksandar Pavlovic
PF JJ Hickson
1st Round Pick

Why for PHI?

It's just not working-Philadelphia is not a contender and is not going to be a contender with this unit. They just signed Brand, but his contract runs for 5 years and prevents them from cashing in 09 or 10. Dalembert has negative worth at this point. Philadelphia clears a ton of space now while adding three young pieces that they can work with going into the future.

Why for CLE?

Elton Brand is the perfect piece for the Cavs, a back to the basket scorer that plays very solid post defense. Dalembert moves well and can find minutes as a backup. Suddenly we don't have to worry about Z's back or ankle or Big Ben's health. Additionally, we have some young bigs that have proven worth in the NBA and still maintain the cap flexibility of Big Ben next season. Although these contracts run through 2010, we are winning championships with this lineup. If Wally was bought out...

MO/West
West/Gibson/
LBJ/Wally
Brand/Wallace/Jackson
Z/Andy/Dalembert

Thoughts? I know its incredibly improbable that Brand gets dealt due to him just signing and I know we probably won't move Snow's deal because we can get some sort of exception for it. Still, its worth a thought.

how long did u work on this 30 seconds. so philly gives up their BRAND new FA 1st, maybe 2nd, best player and their starting Center for all that garbage? The 1st round pick going to be very low with the Cavs finishing amongst the top 10 teams as well, this is a bad proposal. Dalenbert is a very good Center he is slumping a bit right now but that doesn't mean his value drops like the stock market. Philly problem is they dont have shooters, that's their 1 problem. They need an assassin type, and don't give me Wally can shoot!?. The Cavs have one player of interest around the league, that's it.

Philly is NOT trading Brand!!!

But.. why would we want him anyways? I like Andy as our power-forward more than Brand.

How about we just trade for Dalembert... who Philly DOES want to trade?

Brand is not a back to the basket scorer. That being said, I still wouldnt' do this deal for the Cavs. I guess the idea is that Dalembert might be worth that but I don't think this deal makes the Cavs better at all.

I do find it amusing that people think that LeBron is the only player of interest around the league but in the same breath will admit that the Cavs are one of the better teams. Fact is the Cavs have several good players although some of them are a bit overpaid.
