can we please stop with all the trades
I keep checking over our forum and all i see is trade talk all these new trade ideas... Lets get tmac lets get brand lets get mike miller how about lets get nobody. We are 20-3 for goodness sake lets keep this squad together and ride the wave this team is still maturing and coming together as a whole. We are 20 and 3 and still getting better with every game. No way should we make any moves unless we are clearly ripping the other team off. Adding any type of star player like tmac or brand would hurt our chemistry any way having too work a new player into the system and into this lineup. We really don't need anyone because we have the team too beat right now! I guess nothing is good enough for some people....

And by clearing ripping the other team off this is what i mean
Congratulations on a successful trade.
Due to Cleveland and Miami being over the cap, the 25% trade rule is invoked. Cleveland and Miami had to be no more than 125% plus $100,000 of the salary given out for the trade to be accepted, which did happen here. This trade satisfies the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Now, I'm not sure I've seen anything this ridiculus in a long time. But I do understand your point.

Re: can we please stop with all the trades
The Celtics had by far the best record in the league last year, and still added Cassell and PJ Brown.
Any Wally trade will probably involve Wally being cut and returning anyway, so what's the concern?

Just because we have a good record, doesn't mean we shouldn't look to improve ourselves.
We have a lot of improvements to be made, because this team is far from perfect.
We're a good team, but we've also had an easy schedule.
Wally is a big trading chip and we should take advantage of that IF the right deal comes along.

Re: can we please stop with all the trades
i understand we can get better and we can improve but the fact is EVERY TEAM IN THE LEAGUE CAN every team has wholes or weaknesses that can be improved upon but it takes time too work new players into a system its not just boom and everything clicks look at a team like the clippers they have loads and loads of talent but they cant put it together or the pistons what are they 7-9 before the iverson deal? you can talk abotu the celtics making moves last season but they didnt give up any value whatsoever too pick up pj brown or sam cassell and those guys were big in the playoffs expecially brown but look at what they gave up. Right now wally is a key guy off the bench, giving him up for a player thats not going too gell right away would be stupid because we have a great team and a great chance this year and we shouldnt ruin it by making a trade even if it is just wally....

Re: can we please stop with all the trades
People are just excited to think we are close to a ring. It's an interesting time. Everyone just relax. We are not going to win them all. I think the best quote I read a few days ago on Winhorst's blog was "Wally will likely be traded and pull a McDyess to get back to a team that is close after the required 30 days." Also Winhorst said the Cavs will most likely go for the insurance money for Snow's contrat unless someone offers them an unbelieveable deal. Time wil tell because other teams still have to play enough games to see if they will make the playoffs still.

Re: can we please stop with all the trades
The problem has been that most of the deals that I've seen have given up picks and salary cap flexibility for players that are bad fits and/or only a little better than what we are giving up. What is the point of doing that? Sure, it's good to think that your team is close, but not at the expense of making a bad deal just so that your making a deal.

There should be a sticky thread for all trade talk.
By the way, Brad Miller X Wally + a future pick.

Re: can we please stop with all the trades
People have said this before (sticky a trade talk thread). I'm not so sure that it's the best way to go about dealing with trade talk. if a thread is getting much conversation the thread will stay at the top anyway. However, one thread for all trades tends to be a bit confusing regarding what trade someone might be responding to. That is my opinion at least.

Re: can we please stop with all the trades
It's a rela dangerous game trading role players for bigger names that might not fit. I use the Shawn Marion talk as an example. Is he a better player than Varejao--absolutely. But then who plays frontcourt defense? Who attacks the offensive glass? Who fills the agitator role? Wallace can't do it all by himself--they tried that in Chicago to disastrous results. Marion is not a pick play guy, he's a perimeter runner/gunner. With Mo Williams here now, we don't need that sort of player. We'd need a guy to fill the hole that Varejao leaves behind, and in the playoffs that role is more important than anything Marion brings.
I'm a big believer in cohesion. Let this team continue to play together, get even more comfortable and let that trust and bond grow. I would steadfastly object to any trade that moves anyone except Sasha, Wally, or perhaps Boobie.

It's not whether you win or lose, it's how good you look playing the game

There's no way I move Anderson for Marion. None at all.
I wouldnt mind Marion but not at that price.

Everything except the red I totally agree with....I think Andy is a better all around player right now. Marion got his numbers in Phoenix due to style of play. If he was as good as people "think" Miami would not be a .500 ball club.
Defense: Andy
Rebounding: Andy
Create own shot: Neither
Mid range jumper: closer than we may think
3 pt shooting: Marion- but who cares
What WE need in Cleveland: Andy and it is not even close.

Agreed. Andy is pretty valuable to us, more valuable to us probably than alot of other teams given our need for bigs and how well he plays with LBJ / in our defensive system.

I could see trading for Marion if Varejao wasn't involved.

the trade talk persists because the goal of the team isn't to be 20-3, but to win 4 games against teams like the Celtics and Lakers in the play-offs.
The Cavs have a tremendous opportunity to write their names in NBA history. They have a good team, and the best player in the NBA. However, they are not insured that their current talent on their roster, is going to guarantee them play-off victories against two other talented rosters. I think if a team is this close, the front office needs to be manning the phones every day, trying to add a little more talent. That last piece may be all you need for a ring.

Raps fan here.......I'm not trying to be a troll or anything, so if it seems crazy then I apologize........but would you be willing to move Wally + filler for JO? The way things have gone this year for us we have to make some big changes. JO has been decent but his contract is killing us as we can't go into the tax. For you guys he'd be a clear upgrade over Big Ben and I know there was some interest in the summer, so I'm just trying to figure out any JO interest you guys may have.

Re: can we please stop with all the trades
I don't want O'Neal under any circumstances. It's not trolling, but I didn't think he'd be a good acquisition during the summer and after seeing him play now he's actually detrimental.
