If we can beat Detroit 2 years ago in a 7 game series where they were much better than they are now, then we can definitely beat them today. The real question is can Detroit beat Boston or Cleveland?

Boston, that really depends.. Remember we took them to 7 games and came up short. We were even short a player (Gibson) and the only other player who really stepped it up was West.. BTW, Boston don't have some of their key players (PJ Brown or Posey) anymore. So...

Actually, Detroit beat Cleveland before trading one of their core players (Billups) which hasn't worked out as well for Detroit as they have planned since it made their playoff odds against the CAVs that much more of a long shot. Iverson is clearly on the decline and not the glue that Billups was with Detroit and that doesn't help them in competition with the CAVs this season and the playoffs.

Boston is the CAVs main obstacle to a NBA finals run to a championship... followed by Orlando -- NOT Detroit. While the CAVs have improved... Detroit has stopped to reload with the Iverson deal and are not the factor that they once were. This is a better feel good thread for the Detroit board than a realistic one to post on the CAVs board.

The Pistons are terrible. You can definitely see that the Nuggets benefited from the A.I./Billups trade. We CAN beat Detroit. I am not sure on Boston, it would be close.

Of course, the cavs can beat either team. The cavs beat Detroit two years ago when Detroit was much better than it is now, and the cavs were not even near as good as they are now. When the cavs lost to Detroit earlier this season, it was the second game of a back to back in Detroit. Pistons probably won't have either advantage in a playoff series.

As for Boston, you have to remember that the cavs took essentially the same team to the final minutes of game 7, which was more of a test than any other team gave the Celtics. As much as Boston seem to have improved this year, the cavs have improved more and still have Lebron James.

I'm not saying the cavs are a lock to beat either team, but they have every reason to be confident that they will.

One game means nothing... In fact, I would love to see the Pistons try to replicate that performances... Didn't they shoot like 12/14 in the 4th quarter ??

At any rate, Detroit is not a worry whatsoever... Orlando is a better team than Detroit.. Hell, Atlanta might be a better team than Detroit..

Detroit is finished... And not only is this run over, but I would be extremely surprised if they really parlayed that 2010 money into something that would make them a contender for the future...For some reason, some of their fans feel Boozer is the missing piece..

First off, Iverson played in that game against the Cavs, but it was in Detroit. The Cavs were on a 2nd night of a back to back and they ran out of steam if I can recall.
The question is can Detroit beat Cleveland or Boston in the playoffs without home court? The answer is no.

if you think the pistons are better than cleveland right now, you have serious issues with basketball. the pistons are 15-11, not even good enough to be in the playoffs in the west and only good enough for the 5th seed in the east. A.I has made the team much worse, especially on the defensive end. the cavaliers have gotten better as the season has gone on, and detroit has simply gotten worse (and will probably continue to do so). Cleveland is the 2nd best team in the league at this point, while detroit is hardly in the top half of the league. even the nba.com power rankings (which usually give detroit a lot of love) have detroit ranked 15th. i don't think the cavaliers have anything to worry about with detroit anymore.

EDIT: Detroit has a worse record with a much easier schedule than the cavaliers. the cavaliers are 12th in SOS and Detroit is 18th.

Record determines how well a team has been playing throughout the season.. How does it not mean anything? Detroit defeated LA because they had an off night on a back to back game in 5 days.. Good job to them. Indiana defeated LA by luck on that buzzer beating tip by Murphy. Boston had a game where they didn't show up earlier in the season.. Oh and didn't Boston already beat Indiana twice since the first meeting? It's common sense, even elite teams have off nights. But more often than not, they are beating teams easily. Come playoff time, there is no doubt that Cleveland, Orlando, or even Atlanta can beat Detroit in a 7 game series.

I think we have a better chance of sweeping detroit then we do of losing to them in a 7 game series.

so when lebron led a team full of essentially d-leaguers over the pistons (who were much better then than they are now) in 6 games, that meant nothing too right? after all, 2-4 was only detroit's record in the series. the cavaliers are 5 times as good as they were back then, and the pistons are 1/5 of the team they were. If anything, the cavs would take the series in 5 games or less. that is certainly more likely than the pistons beating the cavaliers.
