Despite the Cavaliers' woes on offense, despite the fact that they have had three injuries to key players with only one third of the season gone, and despite the fact that many fans have taken on the "woe is us" attitude, the Cavaliers have the best record in the league.

This past summer I predicted that the Cavaliers would win at-least 58 games, and said that I was pretty positive that they'd win 60 or more. I even made a bet on http://www.RealCavsFans.com that the Cavs would win 60 or more games. I quickly got 20 members to bet $10 (a total of $200) that the Cavs would not reach my predicted win total. Man, am I looking good now. And despite the fact I was banned from RCF, I will keep my end of the bet if I lose.

Anyway, the reason I came to this conclusion, that the Cavs would win 60 or more games, was based on watching the summer league games and watching the preseason games. In the summer, I saw real potential in Hickson, even more than I saw while watching him at NCState. In the preseason, I took note of the fact that the Cavaliers starting line-up always jumped out and played well together. Even though they didn't win many games, I knew that the weakness was in the bench, and that the Cavaliers' starters would make the club very good. But that alone wasn't what convinced me. The Cavaliers' flexibility, created by last year's trade, and my belief that Varejao would play at-least as well as he had previously, is what ultimately convinced me.

The Cavaliers, I assumed - then and now - would make a trade to upgrade their bench. I theorized that it made no sense at all for the Cavaliers to acquire Szczerbiak last season other than the fact they would create flexibility for this season. Yes, they got West in the deal, but he could have been had without taking Wally. I believed, and still do, that Ferry wanted to have the ability to make a deal should one come along that could put the Cavaliers over the top. But nobody expected the trade for Mo Williams, especially after the Bucks had traded Yi for Jefferson. The Bucks appeared to be in "win now" mode. So the Williams deal doesn't count as the player that I think Danny was planning on acquiring. I could point to his attempt at trading for VC as proof to this, but I think that all Cavalier fans already know this...or they should. At any rate, I expect the Cavaliers to take full advantage of all the trades that are going to be offered over the next few weeks, as teams scramble to keep their franchise from being in the red. Teams that are bad, and getting worse or going nowhere is one source to keep your eye on, however, there is another source; That source being the team that has been good for the last few years, but is clearly on the down slope, and will look to rebuild soon. The Cavaliers can help either of these type of teams accomplish their goal(s), while helping themselves to becoming a dynasty.

Yeah Baby! :D
