Sasha Pavlovic
Salary: $4,500,000 Years Remaining: 2
Darnell Jackson
Salary: $450,000 Years Remaining: 3
Cavaliers 2009 1st round pick
Outgoing Players: Sean May, Gerald Wallace

Why for each team:

Portland:
Gerald Wallace adds some Veteran leadership to a very young team, and bring's Nate's style of defensive intensity with him. Although G-Force is only 26, it seems like he has been around for ever, and is one of the few players in the NBA who can guard every spot on the floor. His ability to drive and finish gives the Blazers another weapon, and one they wont have to wait on to be ready. The trade of Ike and Frye for May and Lorenzen is a lateral move on the floor, but Lorenzen is a leader and will help with chemistry, and the Blazers also save money. They lose Batum, Outlaw and Sergio, but with all the youngsters on the roster, KP needs to consolidate them anyway, and they wont get much better than Wallace.

Cavaliers: The Cavaliers lose their 1st round pick, which seems like a lot, but in Frye they get a one year rental of a guy who is another pick & pop player, and who is a better and cheaper insurance policy than most of the other players out there. Travis Outlaw is a player that can take Sasha and Wally's minutes off the bench, and he is relatively cheap and plays good defense. The Cavaliers pick-up the rights to New Orleans' 2009 2nd round pick also.

Charlotte: Coach Larry Brown is trying to re-make the Bobcats, and with most of their players not worth much on the trade market, The Bobcats play their last card and pick-up their SF of the future in Batum, and they pick-up two young bangers - one a real scoring threat from the post (Ike Diogu), and the other a spot-up shooter who is very physical in the paint. The Bobcats also pick-up an extra 1st round pick to help with the rebuild, and give-up New Orleans' 2nd rounder from the Melvin Ely trade in 07 (with the Spurs).

I wouldn't toss in a first for either one of these guys.

I agree with Outty. I would also rather use Sasha for a trade that would actually benefit us. And I am also surprised that we aren't getting G-Force in return in this trade, since it is pretty typical of heath.

outlaw and frye are nice bench players, but they aren't what the cavaliers need and they aren't even worth giving up our pick for. the blazers would probably rather have a shooter to spread the floor for roy with. Batum is starting for them, Sergio has played well, and outlaw is huge for them off the bench (even hit the game winner against detroit the other night). No way do they lose all of that for wallace and some scrubs.

I would think the Cavs could do MUCH better than this.

No. We will not trade Wallace for a bunch of roleplayers.

what the bobcats need is a guard who can create for himself, for example i would like to have delonte west or bayless.
but not in a trade that involves wallace.

Well, if the front office mimics what the fans say, then Gerald Wallace may not be going anywhere.

Since I have been watching basketball, it has always been my opinion that the fans are the best gauge of whether a player may be traded. Fans rarely have the trades right, but they are usually right on about whether a player gets traded or not.

There are always exceptions to every rule. Philly fans, for instance, mostly wanted AI to stay. Same with Billups in Detroit. However, every trade that you hear about happening... it never comes as a shock when it happens. This is because those players are either known to be being shopped, or there has been substantial trade rumors involving the player(s).

Gerald Wallace falls into this last category, where the majority of the fans do not want to see him go. However, he has been brought-up in trade ideas by those same fans, and has been talked about a lot.
