Marcus Camby

Post#1 » by Cleveland Fan » Sun Jan 11, 2009 4:13 pm

I believe Camby is the one piece the Cav's need to put them over the top. What do you think & what would we have to give up to get him? Maybe Wally & draft pick. If so I say get it done.

Camby would be great.. but I think he would cost more than Wally and a pick. They would ask for JJ like everyone else..

What the Cavs need is a big who can actually be an offensive thread. I really don't see that in Camby although his rebounding would help.;

Camby would be the ideal fit..

Defense and rebounding first, and then we'll worry about offense... Our rebounding has been down tremendously this season, and come playoff time, that will be more important than interior offense..

With the development of JJ I have a feeling if another big is added it will be an 'insurance' 4th/5th veteran type big. Maybe a Mikki Moore/Joe Smith type who would be an upgrade over Wright but not disrupt things by demanding big minutes. Even a Chandler Frye, who is very soft, could come off the bench and hit a few shots.

I'm guessing if there is a trade before the deadline the main piece coming back could be a Mike Miller type who would be an upgrade over Wally coming off the bench. Miller's contract only runs til 2010 but Minnesota could choose to trade him if they want to get involved in 09 FA. Maybe the Cavs will wait to see if they get any lux tax relief from Snow's contract before adding anymore salary.

I think alot of that is due to Z's injury?

Even with Z, we were middle of the pack...

You add somebody like Camby to this mix, and trot out a front line every night of Z/Ben/AV/Camby,--- not only do you have the best rebounding front line in the NBA, but you have without a doubt the best interior defense in the entire NBA...

We win it all IMO...

camby makes too much and is just too good to come off the bench. he won't start over wallace or Z. Waste of a trade IMO

His minutes do not need to justify his contract....We didn't give him that deal..

If he came here and contributed in a positive way to a championship run, nobody would say a peep about it....Plus, Camby is not a bad chemistry guy...

Cammy is a beast on the boards. Take a look at this game log......many games of 17, 20 plus rebounds all while playing close to 40 minutes a game. I dont like his age and salary, but if Z is going to be out a while it might not be a bad pickup. Also - he is a big that can play the inside/out game quite well. Considering all the pick and roll/pops we play - we need someone how can play that roll.

Although for the money.....id rather have Joe Smith

he's a starting caliber center and one of the best in the league. i don't see coming off the bench, something he has never done that i can recall. We don't even know how he would respond to that. i think we can get a more useful piece than camby, preferably another defender on the wings.

Did anybody notice that JJ Hickson gave the cavs some productive minutes against the cetics the other night? He's not perfect, but I think he's coming along nicely and learning what he needs to do to be productive. It'd be a huge mistake to trade him in a "win now" deal. I'm not sure we need a wing defender more than an extra big, but one thing I noticed is that when Lebron sat, nobody could step up and stop pierce, so Lebron had to come right back in.

He did it for the Knicks during their championship run in '99 back when he was a young player in his early contract years...After Ewing got hurt, the Knicks used to start Chris Dudley if i recall, and Camby would come in off the bench

He's an older player now not looking for a lucrative contract that coincides with big time minutes... Instead, I believe a player like him would be looking for a ring now... Furthermore, there will be plenty of minutes to play, especially with Z not being 100%.. And I'm sorry, but Z is not going to just bounce right back with this injury... Having a quality backup like Camby ready to go would be a tremendous asset to have on board...

Put it this way, if Boston goes out right now and trades for Camby, there will be a mass freak out on the Cavs boards... And rightfully so....

If you have a chance to get the 2nd best rebounder, and excellent defending center, you simply have to do it if it's a fair deal...

good point. but for the celtics, they can use an upgrade at center. the cavs need z for his offense. if he is looking for a ring and if we can get him for the right price, fine. i just think the cavs can find a player who fills in bigger needs than camby does

^^^As many as it takes to win it all.

I like Camby. One of the best shot blockers and defenders out there. He would be one heck of a pick up for Wally and a first.

We have to get Camby... With our defense already (and he's an excellent defensive center BTW *06-07 DPOY) he would give us more rebounding...

Camby puts us over the top.... We take the Celtics and Magic in the east... And the Lakers are so damn soft up front.. We can neutralize their flaming Spaniard and Bynum with this move...

Do it, Ferry...
