Now that we're at the mid way point of the season, what grades would you give each player based on their play and give a description.

A+: LeBron James... He's the favorite for MVP right now, if that doesn't mean A+, what does?
A: Mo Williams... He's been a fantastic addition. He meshed quickly and has provided great secondary scoring.
A: Delonte West... I won't even bother to look at numbers or anything with West, he was having an amazing season before the injury. He's been shooting lights out pretty much all season in addition to shutting guys down on defense.
A: Zydrunas Ilgauskas... Z's had a great year so far. He's been shooting the ball as well as ever (best FG% since his rookie year). You can really tell how our team loses quit a bit without him on the floor.
A-: Anderson Varejao... Gotta give him a lot of credit for working hard this offseason to get into proper shape and hone in his jump shot. He's playing excellent basketball, making great cuts and passes, shooting well, and playing his energetic defense. Filled in well for Z.
A-: Ben Wallace... I hesitated with this one for a second... Maybe that missed dunk yesterday is throwing me off a bit, but we all know Ben isn't in the NBA for his offense. Defensively he anchors the interior so well. It's not even blocked shots, he makes excellent rotations and plays superb help defense. People are crediting LeBron's improved defense, but I don't think Wallace's presence can be stressed enough.
(I think it's fair to give out 6 A's when a team is 35-8)

B+: Wally Szczerbiak... Shooting a lot better this year for us, provides great energy. I'm really torn on trading the guy, I think he brings great character to the team.
B: Daniel Gibson... Got off to a pretty slow start shooting the ball, but the last two months he's been shooting 42.5% and 48.7% from three, which is nice to see. Not doing much else.
B: JJ Hickson... Starting to show some things as he adjusts to the NBA game. Great athleticism, loads of potential. Still has a ways to go in polishing his offensive game, but I like what I see so far.

I don't really want to go much further... I don't want to give anyone bad grades just for being bench guys. They are what they are. Props to Pavlovic for playing well starting for Delonte. I like what Kinsey has done of late. Darnell Jackson might turn into a solid hustle 4th big guy some day. Lorenzen Wright doesn't have much to offer on the court, but I think he's a great guy to have in the locker room. Also, shout out to Eric Snow for being hurt and letting us get insurance on his contract.

Hmm, cool question.... I have nothing better to do right now so I'll give it a go.

Cleveland Cavaliers

LeBron James(SF):A
LeBron has had an absolutely unreal season. He is posting the best PER in the history of the NBA, his defense is elite, his jump-shot is better than ever(although still inconsistent). He continues to be an elite NBA scorer, passer, and even rebounder (He's averaged like, 12 rebounds the last 6 games). His chase-down blocks and break-away steals are amazing to watch, and he's just oh so clutch. He's the best player in the NBA, leading the best TEAM in the NBA, ready to go to the finals. Now, he gets an "A" instead of an "A+" for one simple reason, the reason our offense has been so dynamic this season is because of our crisp ball movement and knockdown shooters, LeBron has bought into that concept, which is needed for it to work. Until the past 5 games however, he hasn't bought in it during the 4th quarter of ball-games, especially away. He reverts to Le-Iso to try and do it all himself, when we have a perfectly capable elite team out there surrounding him. Now, this is something I can see starting to change before my eyes, in this recent road trip...in the fourth quarter LeBron has been spectacular, not only is he performing and scoring at a high level himself, he's getting his teammates involved to help close-out games, particularly the Cavs new-found Hitman, Mo Williams. If he continues to buy into the system the entire game the rest of the year, he'll be able to bring his grade up to A+.

Zydrunas Ilgaulskus(C): A-
Big Z is such a key cog to this team and it has become oh so evident every game we play without him, or for that two weeks stretch after the Denver game....a hobbled Z. He's such a force on the glass with his length, and he's such an intimidating inside presence he brings a brand new element to our defense. Ben and Andy play well together, but either one of those guys alongside Z really brings out the best all of them have to offer. Z's recent exploration into the 3 point land has been a success, as he is shooting over 50% in limited attempts. His threes always come at a big juncture in the game and give us a much needed boost. He also has been effective in the post, feeding him the ball down low when baskets elsewhere are hard to come by has been a savior. I can't wait until Z is back healthy, and as much as I love Mo, Z is the 2nd best and 2nd most important player on our team.

Ben Wallace(PF): A-
After last year I was slightly disappointed with him, and continually worried about his lingering back problems. Then this season started, and it became apparent right away that Big Ben is the GLUE of the Cavaliers defense. This guy is all over the place, he routinely guards two people at once effectively, and has shutdown multiple big-names one-on one. He has been mostly healthy other than one bad flu, and he has been a great teammate and truly the enforcer we were looking for when we traded for him. He's quietly able to put in a few baskets here and there, and he responded to Doc's pathetic hack-a-ben desperation move by knocking down 5 FT's. Ben has had such a huge impact on the team, and he doesn't even score much or play a lot of minutes. That's a testament to just how special of a player he really is.

Mo Williams(PG):A-
For a selfish chucker who play's no defense(lol@milwaukee fans), Mo Williams has had an all-star season as LeBron James' sidekick. With an emphatic "**** you haters" to any doubters he past two weeks, Mo Williams has picked his game up to a new level, and has been amazingly key and clutch for the team. He is the main reason our offense is now so fluid and dangerous. And for all of this bad talk about his defense, although he has gotten burnt at times, this guy can really end up being a good defender in the NBA. Even now, he's average at the VERY LEAST, and he continues to get better every day, most of the credit has to go to MB and the coaching staff, but he has put a lot of work in to improve his defensive efforts. Mo Williams deserves to be an all-star, and if he gets snubbed then I probably won't even watch all-star weekend.

Delonte West(SG):B+
You really cannot say enough about Delonte. The guy is undersized, and underrated. He's such an important part to this team during the game and chemistry wise. He's been shooting the ball great this year, and his ball-handling and defensive skills really compliment our team perfectly. He has blossomed into such a good player, and he's playing his natural position, the 2 guard. He has been a great teammate and has turned into a fan favorite. Him being out 6 weeks was a really deflating injury. Get well soon, Brother Red.

Anderson Verajao(PF/C): B+
After a disappointing season marred by injuries, holdouts, and inconsistent play, AV has turned his entire career around this year and has proven to be huge for the Cavs. He's in great shape, he is always active, and his rebounding has been impressive. The biggest marked improvement this year has been his ability to score. He is finishing around the rim with the utmost efficiency. His mid-range game, while a bit inconsistent, has been a nice little tool for him this year. His chemistry on and off the court with the team is invaluable. Wild thing.....you make my heart sing.....

Wally Szczerbiak(SF):C+
Wally has quietly shot decently (39%) beyond the arc this year, which is nice to see. At times he has shown strength and toughness to spend a few spot minutes in the post...and he has rebounded fairly well at times. However, he continues to be a mess defensively, and when he gets the ball and doesn't shoot it..it's usually a turnover. However, his great attitude and chemistry with the team, and encouragement of everyone has been fun to watch. I hope he gets traded, and if they buy him out, I'd welcome him back in Cleveland.

Sasha Pavlovic(SG):C+
Until the past 4 weeks, Pavlovic would have been close to a D-, however when we needed him to step in and step up, he has done just that. His three point shooting has been at or near 50% the past month, and his defense has been above-average most of the time, and great at times. He is starting to really gain confidence and is making less mistakes each passing game. He's been marvelous since Delonte got hurt, and may even be earning himself some real minutes when Delonte comes back. Keep it up, Pavs.

J.J. Hickson(PF): C
I guess you could call this a harsh grade for the rookie, but Mike Brown doesn't shy away from harsh criticism just because he's a rookie. He will continue to get better and better, and has really been showing us something special these past few weeks. I honestly think JJ will be an absolute beast in the NBA within the next 5 years. Who knows, he might even have a few titles by then. All in all, he has responded well to criticism and is eager to learn the NBA game. Things are starting to slow down for him and it's showing.

Darnell Jackson(PF/C): D
I know he's a rookie second rounder with limited potential, but he has done nothing to deserve minutes. He's going to need a lot more time and work to even think about being a 3rd/4th rotational big. Hopefully he learns a lot from Ben, Andy, LeBron, Z, etc...and improves...because aside from one good rebounding game, he hasn't done anything well yet.

Lorenzen Wright(PF/C): D-
He shouldn't ever get PT, EVER. However, he's been a nice influence and mentor for the young rookies...and he was signed cheap..and he dresses well.

Tarence Kinsey(SG): B
Kinsey hasn't gotten any opportunities to play until recently, and he has come up HUGE for the team. He deserves the grade although he has a limited body of work. I like the guy, and the way he played after getting no PT, really shows me how hard he works on his game even when he isn't in the rotation

Jawad Williams(F): Uhh...C?
He's handled the contract situations well, and uhhh....
I don't know, but I'll stick with a C and won't be mean.

Eric Snow(PG): A+++++++++++++++++
I liked his suit on NBATV the other day ;) He also saves Dan Gilbert(great owner) 12 million, so good job Eric!

Daniel "Boobie" Gibson(G): C
This was hard to write, because there's going to be criticism, a lot of it. Gibson is shooting 36% from three this season, he needs to be shooting 43+%. He has been way too inconsistent for the team. He is trying to incorporate a whole new aspect to his game, and I do believe he can incorporate that, but it won't happen all in one year, and he's trying to do things too quickly. He has lost focus on his outside shot, and has been garbage away from home. We really need him to start performing better on the road, hopefully LeBron and the crew keeps trying to give him open looks and confidence, and I think he can and will right the ship.

I saved Boobie for last, because I really like the kid, so this was tough for me to write.
