So now that no move has been made...

Post#1 » by DowJones » Thu Feb 19, 2009 8:05 pm

Are you happy? Are you disappointed? Do you think this current team is good enough to win an NBA Title?

I am disappointed for sure but not really upset. It doesn't sound like there were any no-brainer trades out there. I don't think we have enough to beat the Lakers in a best of 7. I don't think we match up well with them at all. I do think we have enough to win the East.

I wish we could have done something but I'm certainly not mad at Ferry.

It is what it is.

We're still a great team.

Disappointed. Something had to be out there given the economic situation for teams and the large expirings we had.

Even a minor move for another big would have made a difference.

We are still a great team, but don't see how we can beat LA without an upgrade in the front-court.

The one thing that sucks is both the Magic and Celtics have upgraded themselves while we did nothing. The Magic got Alston for a first round pick and the Celtics will get Joe Smith once he is bought-out from the OKC Thunder.

It is just hard to know what was out there. If there was a deal for us to get a guy like Boozer then we should of been all over it. It sounds like we went after Jamison but the Wiz weren't interested.

Disappointed. Wish something could've got done, thought Ferry would pull Shaq/RJ seperate deals out of his ass. Oh well...BTW what's going on with RCF??

EDIT: The deadline has passed, but news of deals and proposed deals is still coming in.

Pretty disappointed to be honest..

Need more size up from to compete with LA, and when teams pack the paint on LBJ, I would have liked to have had another scorer.

We'll see what happens.

+1. We definitely needed to make a move for another big.

The Cavs turned down Boozer. I know Cleveland hates him but he would be an obvious upgrade over Ben Wallace. The Cavs have no one capable of starting at the 4, an EXTREMELY undersized backcourt rotation, no backup center, no premier wing defender, and no low post presence. I have been saying since the offseason that the Cavs needed to grab a post up option and wing defender if they wanted to win this year, and Ferry failed to do that.

I would have gave Phoenix what they wanted (Wally's contract) because he would have at least solved one of our problems. Ferry however wanted to target a wing man with Wally's contract, while obtaining Shaq for scraps. All Phoenix wanted was Wally, Sasha, and Ben for Shaq. Ferry didn't want to include Wally so Phoenix declined and that was why Ferry was looking for a third team to trade with. Fact is, Ferry got greedy. He wanted to knock out two birds with one major bullet. Well that bullet missed and instead of settling for knocking out one bird, Ferry chose to go home empty handed. To add insult to injury, Joe Smith and Marbury are rumored to go to the Celts after they get bought out.

The Cavs don't have what it takes to compete with teams with athletic bigs. LA's frontcourt made Cleveland look helpless. Expect to see more of that in the playoffs. Second round exit, here we come!

Disappointed. This team as currently constructed needs to be COMPLETELY healthy, role players playing like they are supposed to play and LeBron playing like Jesus to win it all (i.e. beat the Celtics AND the Lakers/Spurs)...I'm not holding my breath it will happen. :/

I'm disappointed but also glad we didn't get shaq since he has a ridiculous salary and i don't see how he would fit in here...

I am glad that we did not do anything to trash the chemistry our team has. I am glad that we didn't ruin our teams financial future. I am glad that we still have LeBron.

Will you be glad once LA or Boston's frontline rapes us in the playoffs? You think LeBron is happy that Orlando, Boston, and LA improved while we did nothing?

I wonder how Marbury will fit in with the Celtics. He's a better shooter than Rondo and Tony Allen, and he can drive to the basket better than Eddie House. He could be instant offense off the bench for the C's.

Bostons front line doesn't worry me at all. I have no doubt that even as currently constructed that the Cavs can beat Boston. And I'm the one that always wants more bigs. But most importantly, I'm glad we didn't do some stupid knee jerk deal. I hate bad trades and frankly, I only wanted us to do a trade if it was a clear win for us.

I don't think the Cavs can beat Boston. Rondo and Perkins are much much better than they were last season. It's like night and day with those two.

Remember when the Bulls stood pat in 05-06......Ferry just pulled a Paxson and did nothing.....down the road I hope we don't end up like the Bulls.

Rondo does next to nothing against the Cavs. He just can't shoot well enough even now. I'm not saying it's a given that we'd beat them. But frankly, they can't say it's a given that they'd beat us. We split last year and have split so far this year. It's alot close than you seem to understand.

A lot of fair-weather fans coming out of the woodwork.
