I actually like Drew, good guy, played hard.

But he doesn't fit on this team right now if Joe Smith is brought in.

Why can't we sign 2 quality bigs I don't understand.

We could, but where would the mins come from?

Keep in mind we have our 1st round pick to develop in JJ Hickson. He would basically get zero minutes the rest of the year if Drew and Joe Smith are both brought in. Andy would also lose minutes which would probably piss off his agent and make it more difficult to resign him this offseason.

I'm not necessarily opposed to the thought of signing them both though, but I strongly doubt Ferry does it because the minutes just aren't there unless someone else gets hurt.

Drew would also probably be better off signing somewhere where he could have a larger role, since he is a FA.

I just thought maybe we can resign Drew so we have a Pf for now and the future, but that will never happen because of Browns hatred for Drew and the franchise wants Hickson as the future. All well. In my opinion Drew Gooden is better then all of our current bigs except maybe for Z but he is getting old quick and Drew Gooden is still in his prime ready to put up 20 and 12 for any team that needs it.

I think you over-value him too much...more like 12 and 10, but I would like to sign them both. Gives us some insurance if Fegan gets Andy to walk.

I wouldn't mind him IF the Joe Smith signing somehow falls apart.

You really think Gooden is better than Z?

And to be honest, I'd rather have Big Ben or Varejao over Drew.

Gooden was never better than Varejao, It's a big reason why we held onto Andy and not Drew. At no point was/is Gooden a 20/12 player. He's better offensively than all our big men except Z, but he gives up more points than he produces. Plus Lebron doesn't seem to like him.

It's funny that we traded Gooden for Joe Smith, and now we have our choice of the two.

It's also not fair to Gooden if he were to come here. There's little chance that 1/3 of a season will undo Lebron and Mike Brown's dislike of the guy, and I want him to land somewhere decent. If the Spurs sign him, he'll be in a better position. Better big man with Duncan, so he only has to go against the team's second unit, and he'll have the best coach in the league (Mike Brown's great, but we're talking about Gregg Popovich) to help him get better, and at least re-sign him to a 1 year deal.

If Gooden does sign with San Antonio.. I have a feeling he will be getting a bunch of DNP's playing under Pops.

yeah i'm not sure how he fits under Popovich. I couldn't imagine he'd like his lack of bball IQ. I really wouldn't mind him on the Cavs again - if Lebron didn't care that is.

This is how I feel. For all his problems defensively Drew was a good guy when he was here. He never complained about shots, he played his role, hit the boards, etc. I'd like to see him end up on a team where he has a chance to find a permanent fit.

I thought honestly that place was chicago seriously, they needed him they needed his rebounding that is the best part of his game if there was one aspect of his game that was actually missed in cleveland it was his rebounding.. Also chicago has no post presence whatsoever you woulda guessed that he would get alot of touches down there for the bulls he can actually be a more productive scorer if given the touches, The fact is he will never be a franchise player for any team because he is always upgradable he cant contest shots, which i think is the most important thing for a big too be able too do, Winning teams are not weak in the paint and any team that starts drew gooden is going too have too make up for him picking up his rotations and contesting shots. he should be used as an energy guy coming off the bench, use him as a situational player off the bench we just dont have the minutes too go around too keep a guy like drew happy

keep in mind i wrote this at 3 am and i dont fealing fixing all my punctuatiion

Great! If we can bring Gooden back we can enjoy the most idiot front court ever. JJ Hickson & Drew Gooden! I'm so excited.

Really, why would Gooden want to come back? True, he seemed to love CTown a lot, but he really rode the bench in last years playoffs, and wasn't real happy about it. Why would coach Brown just inject him into the playoff rotationthis year (besides injuries)? If you were Drew, would you sign here? Love Drew, but I think Joe is the better fit.
