Have we become the big dogs?

Post#1 » by Notorious23 » Fri Mar 13, 2009 9:46 pm

Seeing threads like the one below tells me people are scared. What do you think? Are people starting to realize we are the team to beat and they are mentally are giving in to making excuses why they can't beat us? When the defending champs resort to this I start wonder. Are they scared?

The Celtics have some of the worst basketball fans I have seen...The lack of actual knowledge is mind boggling... So much "whoa is me" talk from a pretty spoiled group over there... We NEED Stephon, do you believe we can get Spree ?? if we DON'T get Mikki, we're not going to repeat, Joe Smith or Mutombo puts us over the top, blah, blah, blah.... Yet, if you dare say something negative about their team, they flip out and point to how great they are... So great they need these scrubs to win ??

They have an underdog thread and some of them are actually under the impression that they have a chance at being underdogs...They point to the finals last year, but just so happen to forget that they were taken to 7 games by a 45 win team and a team who won less than that in the first round, so it was warranted...

Just a weird group of people over there...

I think real, cognizant basketball fans recognize that the Cavs have as good a chance as either Boston or the Lakers to win the title this year. I don't think anyone "expects" the Cavs to win but I don't think anyone would be surprised if we did win it all. Except the haters of record: Barkley, Bayless, and StephenA$$mith.

I give long-term Celtics fans a pass on the woe is me stuff. With all the strange things that have happened to that team and that sports city in general, I don't blame them for being worried or trying to find a comfortable edge.

Part of that I think is people hopping on post KG+Ray Allen trade, which is to be expected.

Most of the veteran BOS posters are pretty good

No we haven't become the big dogs. I wouldn't say they are scared either. Maybe a little worried about certain matchups, but most of them think they will defeat the Cavs. Nothing has really changed. It's still a five team race.

Yeah, I would say so. The Cavs will probably win 8 in a row if they can beat Boston this time around

Are they drinking sea water now?

How long till we see this again?

I say 3 years.

In 10 years they will be chanting MVP for Lebron like they did Kobe.

As a Celtics fan, please don't put EVERY Celtic fan in that group that L&H mentioned. There are actual smart fans, on every team. But like tdfoss said, this is an open basketball internet message board, half of the "idiots" could be "special" people or kids between the ages of 6 and 17 who just get a lil offended and get their feelings hurt, JUST LIKE OTHER FANS FROM OTHER TEAMS, so please dont say that all C's fans are weird, stupid, bandwagoners, etc etc.

And being a huge Celtics fan, I think IF Boston makes it to the ECF, that Cleveland will win, especially if KG isn't 100%. Even if KG is healthy, I really give the upper hand to Cleveland this season.

Ya'll are a better team than last year...we arent as good as we were last year...ya'll have HCA this time around...and ya'll took us to a game 7 when we had HCA last season. Based off those four factors, Cleveland should win, and unless KG, Powe, Rondo all get 100% healthy asap, I see the Cavs taking the EC crown.

The Cavs have played well,to the extent it seems like their year. Of course...LeBron has to be Lebron all the way to the end. He sprains an ankle and misses 3 games...pffft. Lucky, he's been pretty durable.

Nobody should feel too certain, there's quite a few teams that can get hot.

Not yet......big dogs or their fans can take a nap in the sun and don't keep looking over their shoulders at the little dogs.

Maybe not yet, until Boston is out. I like the fact that their road is tougher than the Cavs now. I wouldnt want to face Orl then bos, or vice versa. Hopefully whoever wins that series is beat up and tired assuming we get to the ecf. I believe the Cavs can beat either one, but it wouldnt be easy, and earning home court is a reward for a great regular season.
If I were a boston fan I would be worrying about KG and his knee issue. I dont think they can get past orl if he isnt healthy and producing on offense and defense imo.

Can you really be big dogs when you've never won anything?

How many rings does LeBron have again?

I'm pretty sure that Boston was the favorite last year and yet they hadn't won anything.

Heck, Garnett, Allen and Pierce were all career losers until that point and yet they were the big dogs. It's not as though franchises have memories.

Actually, the Lakers were the favorites last year (and are again this year after punking you guys on your homecourt).

And between the Lakers and Celtics, you have about 30 NBA championships. With all due respect, the Cavs can't even dream about that many championships. So you're gonna have to actually win one before you can even think about being pups nevermind big dogs.

This is the kind of silly talk I'd expect from some of the posters on those boards. First and foremost you can't dream about 30 championships either. No matter which team you have way fewer than that. Not to mention being a big dog (whatever that means) is not something that has anything to do with your teams history but about your teams present. In addition, there really were not many that thought that the Lakers were favorites until the Celtics showed and inability to win on the road in the playoffs. By the way, your post shows absolutely no respect and the fact that you put "with all due respect" just points out how disingenuous you actually are.
