• At 51-13 (.797), Cleveland is tied for the NBA's best record and are winners of 16 of their last 20 games (.800). The Cavaliers lead the Central Division race by 18.5 games, and join this year's Lakers (18.0 game lead in the Pacific Division) as the only teams to have a lead of at least 17 games in their division this late in the season since the 1995-96 Chicago Bulls. With a win tonight or a Detroit loss at Toronto, the Cavaliers will clinch the Central Division for the first time since the team went 49-33 in the 1975-76 season.
• Against the Kings, the Cavs have won five times in a row and six of the last seven times, including three straight in Sacramento. In the win in Cleveland on Jan. 27, Mo Williams scored a then-career-high 43 points on 15-24 (.625) shooting, including a career-high seven three-point makes (7-12, .583), and added season highs of eight rebounds and 11 assists while recording his first double-double of the season.
• Their win on Thursday was the first win in Phoenix since March 10, 1999 and snapped a nine-game road losing streak vs. the Suns, as well as gave the Cavaliers the season sweep for the first time since 1997-98. It was the team's 23rd road win, a new franchise record, surpassing the 1991-92 Cavaliers' 22 road wins. At 23-12 (.657), Cleveland possess the 4th best road record in the NBA (L.A. Lakers, Boston, Orlando). The Cavs will look to finish their current Western road trip undefeated at Sacramento and for the season, the team is 11-3 (.786) against the West away from The Q.
• Thursday's win against the Suns gave the Cavs their 51st victory and the team joins only the 1992-93 (54-28, .659), the 1988-89 and 1991-92 Cavaliers (57-25, .695) as the only teams in franchise history to post more than 50 regular season wins.
• LeBron James had three straight triple-doubles for the first time in his career and has averaged 26.7 points, 12.0 assists and 11.0 rebounds over those three games. James tied Chris Paul for the most in the NBA this season at six and has 23 on his career (Cavs are 19-4, .826). He joins only 12 other NBA players to triple-double in three straight games (Kidd, G. Hill are the only two active players to have done so). James has now scored at least 20 points in 33 straight road games.
• The Cavaliers are an Eastern Conference-best 21-4 (.840) record against the West this season, marking the first time the franchise has ever won 21 of the first 25 games against the Western Conference. Against the West this year, Cleveland is outscoring opponents 101.2 to 92.6, while shooting .471 and holding their opponents to .443 from the field. The team has defeated 14 of 15 Western teams this year, including sweeping the season series from seven teams (Denver, Utah, Oklahoma City, Golden State, Memphis, L.A. Clippers, Phoenix).
• The Cavs are an NBA-best 13-2 (.867) on the second night of back-to-backs, with 10 (8-2, .800) of those games coming on the road. On games with no days of rest, the team averages 101.4 points on .466 shooting while holding opponents to 90.9 points on .430 shooting.
• The Cavs are an NBA-best 30-0 when they score 100 points (34-0 dating back to last season). The 34 games is the longest active streak by 15 games (next best is Portland - 19) and makes it over a year since the team lost when scoring more than 100 points on Feb. 26, 2008 at
Milwaukee, 102-105. In those 30 wins this season, the team is averaging 108.9 points to opponents 94.4 (18.5 point margin) and are shooting .494 while opponents are only shooting .431. Of those 30 games, 15 have come at home and 15 have come on the road.
• Against Phoenix, Mo Williams scored 30 points, added five rebounds and three assists, and shot 6-10 (.600) from behind the arc. In the season series, Williams averaged 37.0 points on 28-49 (.571) shooting including 13-19 (.684) from three, 3.5 rebounds and 5.0 assists.
• For the 2008-09 NBA season, the Cavaliers rank in the Top 5 in the following defensive and offensive statistical categories:
• The Cavs are winning games by a 9.3 point differential, which ranks 1st, and have won 34 games by at least 10 points.
• The team ranks 1st in overall opponent points allowed per game, the only team to allow less than 91.0 points, at 90.7 (next best is Boston at 92.8), ranks 2nd (Boston - .429) in defensive field goal percentage, allowing opponents to only shoot .431 and ranks 1st in defensive three-point field goal percentage at only .330 for the season (next best is Chicago at .338).
• The last team to lead the NBA in all three defensive categories was the 1992-93 Knicks, 16 years ago, (defensive field goal percentage - 42.6%, defensive three-point field goal percentage - 30.5% and opponent points per game allowed - 95.4).
