Cavs vs. Pistons Pre-Series

Post#1 » by Icness » Thu Apr 16, 2009 11:44 am

1st round doesn't start for a few days, so I'll throw this out there as a pre-series discussion thread. Predictions, chest-thumping, and the like.

Please try to keep the flaming to a minimum. Detroit fans have by and large been very respectful over this season and I expect that to stay the same. We should do the same, and don't take any "moron bait" please!

I predict Cavs in a sweep. Detroit really seems in flux. They could steal one game if Prince is shooting lights out and Sheed remembers he's 6'11", and McDyess is always a problem. Our backcourt depth is a real issue for them, and the Cavs handle those flash screens better than anyone.

It certaintly doesnt have the fire that these games used to have, but it will still be nice sending them home for the summer.

Over/Under on how many T's Rasheed gets in the series? Im putting it at 3.

Don't know if he cares enough anymore to get those T's
Is Larry Hughes having fun yet?

No AI = no problem. He was the one who gave us trouble.

It's weird because the Pistons have alot of talented players, but they are missing a floor general to put it all together. Rookie coach doesn't help that problem.

I would be surprised to see the Pistons win a game. The Cavs need to come out dominate Game 1 and end any hopes the Pistons have to win this series. Their leader Chauncey is gone and the key is to take control of the series early.

The Cavs have good defenders in Delonte and LeBron to guard Rip and Prince. I could see Dyess doing some damage but overall I think the Cavs frontcourt is superior especially with the recent play of Darnell and Ben coming back.

I think det will win one home game, but thats it. On a side note, it was nice to see Gibson scoring the way he did against philly. It looks like his toe problems are healed the way he was getting around people last night. Except for the slips that is.

Heck we thought we could beat you guys 2 years ago. Since then we've gotten better and you've gotten worse. I see no reason why we wouldn't still think we could beat you.

This series is symbolic...

Master teaches their pupil... Pupil comes back to kick their Master's ass.... Again !

With a little help from the Wizards, the Pistons are pretty much responsible for a lot of LeBron's big playoff game experience...

So have the playoff schedules been made? When's the first game (date & time)?

You guys won freaking 17 of last 48 games . Seriously, you should be the one we call cocky for thinking the Pistons can upset us in this shape.

I think you're right. There is indeed some talent there, but it's either too old (Rasheed, McDyess, Rip) or not quite ready yet (Stuckey, Affalo, Bynum). The only guy on the team in his prime is Prince, and the Cavs basically just let him spot up and shoot his ugly jumper. They badly underestimated what all Billups did for them, and they badly misread Michael Curry's coaching acumen. It's like watching John Lucas all over again :banghead:

They remind me a lot of the end of the Bird/McHale/Parrish Celtics that the Cavs annihilated back in 92. Still some concern if the fading ex-champs get it rolling, but it's extrememly unlikely to last more than 6. And this Cavs team is so much better than any we've ever had.

Pistons dont seem to have the fire they once had. But I wouldn't be surprised if they can pull this one off against a one dimesnional team like the cavs. Doesn't matter though Magic -Boston in the ECF.

Just because it's in your sig, doesn't mean it's not trolling. That being said, you do know that the Celtics and Magic cannot play in the ECF. They'd play each other in the second round.

Fine...then the Cavs are going to lose to Det regardless.

This is your second warning. Just because it's in your sig does not mean it's not trolling.

curious as to why you think that? not trying to downplay the pistons or anything but the fire's pretty much gone from them. the billups trade really killed them because he brought all the talent together to form the machine that the pistons were - stuckey isnt ready/doesnt have the personality to corral sheed, rip and tay

Also curious as to why you think that. With Billups in Denver now, Iverson out, I just don't see how Detroit could possibly win the series.

IMHO, I think pitbull just came over to the Cavs board to troll and start a arguement....

But to be honest, I really hope that the Cavs remember that the Pistons have at least 4 players that belong to the championship team and that the pistons are one of the rare teams to have beaten the Cavs, celtics, lakers and orlando at least one time this year.
