Cavs/Suns Trade

Post#1 » by Cavsman11 » Wed Jul 8, 2009 8:49 pm

Most of the fans over on the Phx board would do this trade

Cle trades - Hickson, S&T Wally to make money work 1 year deal

Phx trades - J-Rich

All Phx wants for J-Rich is cap space and all we give up is a PF that might pan out 2-3 years from now and we get an all star caliber sg who has the size to guard the bigger guards, a great shooter, and can get hot and put up points fast. While Joe Johnson is another option, J-Rich costs us nothing to get really and both are 28 so age doesnt factor in. We add some more firepower and get to keep West with if we go after Johnson, West will probably be going out on that trade. We sign Frye, re-sign AV to 5-6 Mil or let him walk cuz nobody is going pay him 8 and he's not worth it and he'll come to his senses and sign our offer. Sign Anthony Parker to LLE and Our lineup looks like this.

Mo Williams/West/Gibson
J-Rich/West/Parker
Lebron/Green
Frye/AV/Jackson
Shaq/Z/AV

While we increase out Cap for Next season we still have Shaq 21 M exp, Z 12 M exp, Lebron 15 exp so we have 47 M coming off the books and we can sign Bosh or any other FA and still re-sign Lebron after because we can go over to re-sign our own free agents. I think this is correct but if not please correct me. this gives us an all star at every position in 2010. Potential lineup.

Mo/West/Gibson
J-Rich/West
Lebron/Green
Bosh/Frye
Shaq/AV

Tell me thats not a dynasty in the making.

I don't mind the J-Rich trade... However, our chances of getting Bosh is from slim to zero.

wow im suprised suns fans are ok with this trade seeing as most were mad that Shaq came to us for cap relief, but anyway id do this trade in a second, J-rich can light it up and when he gets hot he does command a double team, so that would make 3 guys on the court that the oposing would have to respect, you cant double everyone so at amy given moment Lebron, Shaq and J-rich one of the 3 would be able to score.

Get it Done Ferry and Kerr!

I agree with everything!!!!

I love the signing of Frye in this situation and I do not even think we would have to use the whole MLE. So we may even be able to finagle someone else small. Definitley get Parker or Barnes either is good enough and AV should be under contract soon. Your second team would have three guys that were startes for us, one guy who could start in either Parker or Barnes and a guy who has started in Gibson.

Team 1
Mo
J-Rich
Lebron
Frye
Shaq

Team 2
Boobie
West
Parker/Barnes
AV
Z

Rest of Bench
Danny Greene (Promising rookie combo GF)
Darnell (COming off an impressive rookie season aka hustle man)
Jawad Williams (No risk/High Raward project)

Insane team to replace three startes and move them all to the bench when one won 66 games last season. All I have to say is if we cannot get Frye I would use the MLE and the LLE to get both Barnes and Parker and whatever (if anything) is left on someone else and sign Joe Smith tho the Vet minimum if he is willing. Smith can still help IMO.
"Shaqtastic. 24 points." "Where'd you get so many Q's?" (With a stern scary look) "Don't worry about it..."

Ferry wouldn't do it - he appears to be trying to preserve 2010 cap flexibility with his last few moves. Getting J-Rich makes that impossible pretty much.

it does appear he is, but he also has to relize that its not going to happen, lebron isnt going to leave but no one is going to come in, i belive the only way to improve this team is trhough trades and low level signings

but if Steve Kerr is willing to deal J-rich she should at least look at it, btw how old is J-rich ands how many years does he have left on his deal?

I'm glad you guys like the trade as much as I do and with the cap flex issue we still have 47 M coming off with Lebron and 33 M without him and as i said in the first post we can sign a FA before we re-sign Lebron so in theory we can have as much as 47 and we are 32 over right now so that gives us 15 M in cap next year.

My original trade was West, Hickson, S&T Wally. I didnt want to put in West and the Suns people all thought it was Ludicrous we make them this offer, so i took out West and they still wanted to do it. But if we had to include west does this make a difference on anyones opinion? It would give us 5 M more cap space in 2010 for those who are worried about cap flex.

I'm pretty sure that would be the case. Go look at the Suns board regarding this trade and it seems they are desperate to get rid of J-Rich just because of his contract and will take any expiring deal for him. We need to capitalize on this.

I wouldn't deal Hickson. Cleveland will sign and trade you Wally to give you a huge expiring contract in place of Jason, but nothing more.

Hickson+Wallys expiring corpse = Done Deal.

The reason that us PHX fans want to get rid of JRICH is not because we dont like him (i think he is a stud), but we have the same kind of player in Barbosa at half the price. A lot of PHX fans are still bitter that Kerr traded 2 fan favorites (Raja and Diaw) for JRICH. At a time when we were trying to be a more defensive team under Porter, we traded 2 of our best defenders for an all out offensive player. I think JRICH would make CLE a PHENOMENAL team for years. he is only 29 and has plenty of life left in him.

It was awesome to see him pull 360 dunks in an actual game. He helps bring the fans in to the game more and brings lots of energy. I just think if we were able to trade him, then we could use the money to help fill another position that we need help with like SF or C. Might even allow us to resign STAT. I believe it would be a great trade for both teams. So that is PHX thoughts and reasons.

If Ferry is trying to preserve cap space why would you think of bringing back Varejao for the absurd amount of money he is trying to get. Look at all the players earning 7,8, and 9 million and tell me Varejao is even close to being on their level. If this is Ferry's "big move' then I am convinced he does not care about building a winning team.

Okay, we get it. You dont care for Andy. Any thoughts on a J-Rich trade? I think this is a J-Rich thread no? Anyway, I would not be opposed to this idea, but if we can keep JJ I would like to try. A fire sale is a fire sale, and like the Phx fan said, he is redundant somewhat to Barbosa.

Agreed. And I possibly think Varejao might get traded during the deadline or next off season for a bigger "star" of a player.

No thanks! I have absoluletly no interest in J Rich. He's a ball dominant scorer who isn't efficient and doesn't bring anything else to the table. He didn't do anything for the Suns with Nash, Amare and Shaq, what makes you think he'd help us with Lebron and Shaq. I'd rather have Delonte starting over him anyways.

Agreed. I also think J-Rich's attitude and desire to win is in question. That in addition to his bad contract is a big pass.

Wait, you don't want a selfish, overpaid and overrated player who drives 90 on the highway w/ his 3 year-old ridin' shotgun? Just please take him from us!!!!!

Yeah we'll take J-Rich and Amare off your hands. You can have Big Z and Andy. Sounds good to me.
