Z with the cavs after the summer is done?

Post#1 » by Canomad » Tue Jul 21, 2009 6:33 pm

resigning AV and now having shaq i dont really know how much z is going to play? if we sign moon we could use him at the 3 and lebron at the 4 with AV 5 when we go small, and in all honesty that isnt even small. i think we should try and see what we can get for him, or is he gonna stay because lebron wants him to?

Z is needed because to keep Shaq healthy for the playoffs you need to keep him at 30 mins or less. Shaq and Z can essentially split minutes equally.

If Shaq has to sit out a couple games for injury, Z slides in and we don't miss a beat. They can keep each other fresh.

I don't see him being moved unless an All-Star caliber big man is involved.

until his contract runs out. are the year before it.

he is grossly overpaid for his role combined with most teams trying to free up future cap space

this is almost like asking "how long is Travis Hafner going to be an Indian?"

I would feel pretty bad for Z and the Cavs if he were to leave the team because of Shaq. Hopefully the Cavs win the ring this year. Z has played his whole career for the Cavs.

The Cavs may trade Z but I think it'd only be to a team that was looking for cap relief. The tough part is that Z is still a top 10 or so center in the league and he's only got 1 yr left on his contract. To me, that seems like it'd make him in demand. The fact that we don't hear his name mentioned very much is likely because the Cavs don't have him on the market at all.

In practice, Z is ideal trade bait. With the flexing that will be going on next offseason, an expiring contract worth the 10 or so million Z's is worth is like gold.

It's very noble that they may want to keep him because he's been a Cav for so long, but you got to look at your championship prospects over that, I believe. If the Cavs can use him to get that final piece than they probably should do it. It's a ruthless era, and only the oppurtunistic come out on top.
