Now is this team good enough for Lebron to win a 'ship?

Post#1 » by MidKnight » Tue Jul 28, 2009 4:08 pm

Raptors fan here...I'm just wondering whether Cavs fan believe that their team is now ready to compete for a championship and won't pull the "Oh Lebron had a weak supporting cast this year" excuse. I don't mean to be a hater but it gets annoying when every year is supposedly the Cavs year to win the ship cause of the changes made, (Big Ben, Hughes and West and then Mo Will the year after) and they never come through in the end. Whenever a Kobe vs. Lebron debate comes up there are loads of Cavs fans who believe that Kobe had a far superior team after he wins the championship, but not too long before that Lebron had a unbeatable team that would dominate the playoffs. I'm a Raptors fan and although we suck, (pretty badly), we will acknowledge our false predictions as we did with J.O not working out for us and not simply claim we never thought that our team was set to make a strong playoff run (Turned out to be no playoff appearance at all). With that I guess my question is, is this the season the Cavs have a team that is strong and Lebron should be able to win a championship with? Or will the failed season apologists claim that their team was filled with an aging Shaq, an aging Z, and all of a sudden Mo Williams doesn't deserve to be recognized as an all star?

Who does Lebron need? The U.S Olympic team?

I think this team is, but most Cavs fans still want a PF that fits next to Shaq better.

No but Gasol, Odom, Bynum, and Phil Jackson would be nice.

If we had a PF that can stretch the floor, a legit backup PG, and if Delonte West grew about 2 1/2 inches we'd be set IMO.

Yes, Kobe had a good team, and maybe if Lebron had those guys on his team he would have won a championship by now. Maybe if Kobe had Z, Big Ben, and Mo he could have one too. Maybe if Brandon Roy got the calls D-Wade gets he would have won one by now too. Or how about Kobe getting away with the crab walk and god knows how many travels. He might have surpassed Jordan by now. Hell if the Raptors got the calls Celtics get there might be a new dynasty. The point is Lebron's had a good team for the past 2 years. He's also had the refs on his side. But noone's gonna complain about that if he wins. Every team has their own strengths and you can't complain that another team only won cause of so and so. How would you feel if a bunch of Wizards fan claimed that the ONLY reason that won the ship, is cause he got away with numerous travels and because Shaq is so damn dominant (whether that will or will not be true this year). Man up and admit that Lebron and the Cavs just don't have what it takes yet until they prove themselves by winning a championship. For god sakes the Cavs roster won 66 games last season. How are you going to complain that if only they had better players they could have won in the playoffs. 66 games!

This is trolling since it wasn't Cavs fans that were saying "we're going to win the championship this past year. We knew we had issues but there was no doubt that the Cavs had less talent than the Lakers as well as the Magic (who likely were the most talented team last year) and Boston. I still think we could have beaten Boston, but knew we'd have issues with the other two.

The Cavs lost because they played a team that could beat them. I don't consider that complaining at all. It's a fact and has been the last few years.
