If Z was traded today & his contract bought out when would he be able to sign a new contract & come back to the Cavs?

It wont happen if they we so confident they could trade him and he would be bought out I have no reason to believe it wouldn't of already happened. What if they do not buy him out and he plays most of the year somewhere else. Can we afford that to happen. He is our most loyal and one of the best players in franchise history. Just keep him. Look this is our team for the most part get used to what we have and lets look forward to another deep run in the playoffs and hope for the championship!!!

We still need an upgrade at the 4. Z for Jamison at the deadline.

I could easily see it happening. There's just too many teams looking at trying to cut salary for this not top be a plausible move. But, look for it to happen at some time closer to the trade deadline

This is completely wrong.

As Outlaw said, if he was traded it would be closer to the trade deadline (so Jan-Feb), which would also allow him to return in time for the playoffs(which is the most important aspect). Shaq and AV can both play center, so losing Z for a month won't hurt the team too badly.

And he won't be traded to a team that would not buy him out, so him not being bought out isn't really relevant in this discussion.

If it is not until the deadline then yea maybe but i just think everyone is waiting for this huge move right before the season starts and it isnt going to happen. I think our team is awesome and we are in a good position to go far with what we have.

Who's waiting for a huge move? Other than maybe signing Smith or some other PF the Cavs are done. I don't see a big move at all (other than the trade for Shaq)

This is going to be an interesting season since I think NBA teams are going to follow what MLB teams have been doing for years. I think there will be a huge amount of selling off of players as teams fall out of contention.
