Anthony Parker
I' am a Cavs fan.I' am happy that we picked up Anthony Parker, and Jamario Moon for the added depth it gives us.I have not seen much of each player.I know J.Moon did not end the season with you guys, but I think he started it with the Raptors. How does AP, and J.Moon play? Are they good defensively? Are they more on ball defenders, or better off ball? What about their Offense?I know AP shoots threes what else does he do on offense?I have NO IDEA what J.Moon does on offense, so can you help me there?
P.S Thanks in advance.

jamario moon likes to get the ball at the 3 point line, pump fake a couple times, then put up a brick. Parker on the other hand has one of the smoothest jumpers in the game and has a great feel for the game. He is the PERFECT role player.

Re: Anthony Parker
Jamario will be good on defense, he'll give you guys extra length and athleticism but he'll frustrate the crap out of you with his low iq.. biting on every pump fake and commiting stupid fouls
He has no offense unless he's running the floor off of a turnover or fastbreak, he'll hit the open 3 for you sometimes but can't put the ball on the floor and create for himself or others.
AP is the perfect role player, he'll defend.. hit shots and create for himself here and there. He's old though so his athleticism isn't there but you guys won't need it. He'll be great for you guys, with Lebron attracting 5 defenders every time he drives it down the middle AP will be the open man in the corner his money spot

Re: Anthony Parker
Moon has a very low basketball IQ. I think he might do better in Cleveland though with a more defined role in an actual system. I really liked Parker during his time here though, but he's getting old, and he isn't what he used to be. Still a pretty good role player though.

Re: Anthony Parker
I've been saying this for months, but I think AP is an overrated defender.
He has bad help D and man-to-man D that is average at best IMO.
But he can still make shots and is a nice guy.

I'm not a Moon fan, never was. Offensively, he has poor shot selection and is averse to driving the basket. Defensively, he's mediocre - with a remarkable tendency to bite shot fakes. His big thing that keeps him in the league is his athleticism around the basket. He's an above average rebounder, a very good dunker and an excellent shot blocker, although some of his shot blocking is really a bailout of his poor work on the perimetre - it's spectacular recovery work.
Parker is well respected, but if he were 30 instead of 34, he never would have left here. He has a nice arsenal offensively and defensively, and he's a prince of a guy who can be a great help to the younger players. He's a great three point shooter, he drives the basket, he has a nice fadeaway he will shoot too often. He's a very good ball handler and can bring the ball up court so that LBJ can set up without the ball. In fact, Parker is a decent backup PG. Defensively, he's solid at staying in front of guys and can be counted on to grab key defensive boards. You like him on the floor in crunch time, especially if you're two points up as opposed to two points down (although his good free throw shooting seems to desert him in crunch time when he often chokes at the line, beware of that.)
The issue with Parker is age and minutes. He was really underrated in the league his first season and to an extent in his second, but last year both his offense and defense took a turn for the worse. Offensively, this is reflected in his numbers, defensively less so. Defensively, his loss of a step had a greater impact than stats would suggest. Frankly, he got beat WAY TOO OFTEN for a guy who had been an above average perimeter defender in his first two seasons.
At age 34, he is unlikely to bounce back, and may deteriorate further. So it's minutes. He's classy enough to accept fewer minutes, and if he plays 20 mpg, he may hold up rather well. But if he plays 35 mpg for whatever reason - and Mike Brown will be tempted early in the year when he sees the good things AP can do - then it will end badly come playoff time.
2019 will never be forgotten because FLAGS FLY FOREVER

--Moon--
Not that high in ball IQ
Considered somewhat of a soft player as he doesn't drive to the basket and use his athleticism
Offense:
- Can take 3-pointers (he's not great at it)
- can take mid ranged set jumpers
- could drive to the basket and dunk in his rookie season, but as time progressed he started settling more to jumpers....less dunks
- his drive to the rim is somewhat one dimensional (not much he can do off the dribble)
- GREAT athleticism and a big vertical (make alley-opps seem effortless...he's a high-flier)
Defense:
- can block shots and an decent defender due to his athleticism
- may make bad decisions in defensive sets
--Parker--
Veteran, very high ball IQ...CLUTCH!
One of the MOST versatile jumpshots i've seen...great form and overall he's a very smooooooth player!
Offense:
- Can make FADE away CLUTCH threes
- he IS getting older...although he looks about 10 years younger
- a playmaker...good wing player...can make curling mid ranged jumpers
- drives to the basket with force (can make floaters/lay ups/dunks
Defense:
- At one point he was our best defenders...but then again...the raptors had horrible defensive play in the past
- reliable
these guys are pretty okay bench players for the Cavs....but NO MATCH FOR THE RAPS!!!....FEAR US BITCHEZZZ!

Re: Anthony Parker
AP has lost a step, but could still be an average defender if put in the right system. He's a smart, plays within his role at most times. He does take some ill advised shots every now and then, but his intangibles in the court make up for it. He's good at moving without the ball, using screens, and spotting up. What you'll like about him the most is his shooting and his passing to cutting players and in the post. He will compliment well with shaq and lebron. Also very nice team guy, great in the locker room. Just don't give him the ball in the clutch because he tends to fold to pressure. Good guy off the bench.
Moon's a good perimeter defender. He will get up there and block shots. Other than that don't expect too much from him. He can cut lane the lane at times for a flashy dunk/alleyhoop, but you can't really count on him to create. Also he tends to fall in love with his weird looking jumpers. No ball handling/pentrating skills. Still has some athleticism but may be too old to polish it.

Re: Anthony Parker
AP's shown signs of age over the past 1-2 seasons.
great lockerroom presense. not sure what he'll be asked to do on the Cavs. went from being an above average defender to an average (or worse) defender. still has a great fadeaway jumper.
Moon? good luck.

Moon is going to get a lot of steals this season, the one thing on D he is good at is reading lanes and picking off the pass before it reaches the intended target.

Re: Anthony Parker
AP:
-Knowckdown cornerball three point shooter, even with a man right in his grill...it doesnt matter once he gets his form nice. And with LeBron setting him up im really scared of it because i dont remember AP missing many open threes at all.
-Has a beautiful fadeaway, from three or midrange.
-he can come off picks and curls and shoot off a catch with perfection, it's his shot.
-CLUTCH three point shooter.
-solid defender but not very quick laterally, when he is fresh he is a very good defender, but then again he's 34 years old.
-very high bball IQ, plays the game the right way and always works hard.
-One of those players that is great for a contender, a lot like battier where he'll accept any role he gets and never complain.
-He can play point guard, he is smart and makes good decisions and is a good passer.
-a solid driver but not spectacular.
Moon:
-VERY LOW bball IQ
-jumps on pump fakes all the time, we played the bobcats once and he gifted Gerald wallace a big game because all he would do was jump on his fakes and give him a wide open lane to the basket.
GERALD WALLACE?!?!?!
-Active on defence, gets his hands in passing lanes and is good at getting blocks for a PF
-His offensive game is very unreliable, not a horrible 3-point shooter but that's because he is always open.
-Will take stupid shots.
-DOES NOT drive at all, no handles, too thin, to scared of contact.
-Is a great rebounder for his position when he puts in the effort, problem is he is a bit lackadaisical and looks like he isnt always trying as hard as he could.
I think Anthony Parker is going to be great and a real surprise for you guys as long as mike brown knows how to run some plays for him (curling mid-rangers, spot-up threes etc) and moon will only be good for defence and running the floor.

Parker is a great shooter. He can be clutch hitting those corner 3pt shots. He also has good athleticism and can finish dunks on transition. Parker also has a very nice fadeaway jump shot around 15 feet from the basket. On defense, he isn't the best defender.
Moon is more athletic. He was in the dunk contest 2 years ago. The problem with Moon is that he doesn't use his athleticism that well unless he's in transition. Rarely will you see him dunk in a half court game. He's rail thin and weighs 200lbs ad doesn't like getting into contact and driving to the basket. With his athleticism, he should be able to draw contact and get to the line. Moon can also take questionable shots. Especially from three point line. He isn't that bad from the 3 pt line and did improve his shooting from downtown when he was in Miami. On defense, he is a good defender and can give you steals and blocks. I think he can excel playing with the Cavs especially with the leadership of Lebron and Shaq.

Re: Anthony Parker
Anothony Parker is everything you want from a veteran pro basketball player. High IQ, plays Defense and his offense is efficent like his shot selection and he doesent force anything. His shot selection is good and he is a good shooter with nice range. Only downside is his age as he will have a slower step this year. Off the court, he is very humble, and down to earth as you can tell from his interviews. I think he was the winner of some Eastern Conference nice guy award a previous year, beating out guys like Luol Deng. You dont need to worry about him at all.
Jamario Moon likes to use his leaping ability to go for the blocks and look for alley oops. He tends to commit alot on those so at times he picks up cheap fouls and sometimes it works, it can frustrate the fan if it fails or you love it when it works. If he stops his habit at hanging around the 3 point line shooting mostly frustrating bricks and your coach forces him to play more inside, you will get more out of him. Also he admits that he doesent like to watch tape of other teams players and it times it shows. Sometimes he looks lost as the guy starts abusing him, at times he will figure it out and play him alright. He IQ isint that great. You may need to worry about him at times unless Mike Brown can force him to change his game to play to his strengths more.

AP is a solid pickup for you guys, alot of people here ripped him, but i think he is an excellent role player. he is a good shooter, defense is tough for him, he isn't that quick latterally, but i felt he did a decent job guarding the best players in the game. Moon on the other hand, sucks. he has nothing but length, horrible shot, a pylon on defense.

Re: Anthony Parker
I think its 50/50 on how Moon will do. LeBron might inspire him to really focus on the mental aspect of his game - which is horribly lacking - if he does, he could be a great asset for Cleveland.
As for Parker, I think Cavs fans are going to fall in love with him. I think he is a perfect fit to play alongside LeBron - in a way that he never really was in Toronto. What I like about Parker is that he always makes good decisions on the floor and he understands the game as well as anyone. I think he will make an excellent coach one day.
As for his defense, he's lost a step, there is no question. But again, he is so fundamentally sound on defense that he is still effective. You can put him on any swingman in the league and he may not stop him, but he won't embarrass himself and he will put in a good effort. He is one of my favorite players in the league.

Re: Anthony Parker
I don't know where this AP has extremely high basketball IQ comment is coming from.
His shot selections were very questionable at times (taking and missing crazy fadeaways early into the clock in a close game), and his help D was horrendous last season. And just because he made a few impossible buzzer beaters, it doesn't mean he's clutch. The guy missed so many FTs during clutch time, everyone on the GT yelled NOOOOOOOOO when he got to the line. And please, AP and the rest of the garbage team absolutely embarrassed themselves on D last season. EVERY guards blew past Jose and AP.
I like Jamario for Cleveland though. He can be very effective without the ball, and he probably won't get many touches there.
