Thoughts on Parker and Moon?
As a Raptors fan I like to keep tabs on how some Ex-Raps are doing and was saddened somewhat that Parker and Moon and let go having felt that these are the kind of role players a championship-calibre team needs.
Just going to ask some generic I have asked other teams in the past:
First Impressions?
Do they bolster or hinder your championship hopes?
Roles?
How do they affect your franchise player's game?

#Raptors are 7-1. In 6 of the past 10 seasons, a team that has started a season 7-1 has gone on to win an NBA championship.

Parker has been a fantastic pick up. He's the perfect complement to Lebron and Shaq. I love that J he has coming off of screens. We haven't had a player like that since Lebron was drafted.
Haven't seen much of Moon, he had his wisdom teeth removed so he hasn't played much.

I really like what I am seeing. Parker can play as either the starting SG or come off the bench and be effective. I like his role more as a starter, and then have Delonte come off the bench to lead the second unit, but I am fine and confident either way. Moon has looked good tonight. I definitely think the fit into the championship run.

Re: Thoughts on Parker and Moon?
Moon will be fine... His role is going to be more defensive based IMO.. When the Cavs slide LBJ to the PF spot, you'll see a lot of Moon.. However, we haven't seen much of him.. (He did play well tonight however)
You can just tell from the get go that Parker is a fantastic addition... His high basketball IQ alone is refreshing.. Especially considering the fact he's replacing a super moron (pictured below)-- it's just nice to have a role player that can play multiple positions in the backcourt, use screens effectively, doesn't need to be set to shoot and can also make a decision when he catches the ball in terms of shooting or making the extra pass...
Parker is simply a guy all championship contending teams need...

Re: Thoughts on Parker and Moon?
I really like Moon's athleticism and I think we will see a lot of his deficiencies dwindle away with this roster. I do not think his poor shot selection will be an issue, and I also see him becoming a top tier defender. Cleveland has a lot of shooters, and I see him, as others have said, having a season much like Ariza's last year.
Parker, well you can never have too many shooters. I think Mo and Parker make for one of the best shooting back courts in the league. I also feel that Parker should start, and West can run the second unit of Gibson/Moon/Hickson/Z. I really like our second unit with West, and hope they could average 25ppg+ for us, something Cleveland has been lacking for quite some time.

Well at least we're not Detroit!

As a Raptor fan(because I live in Toronto) when the raps first got parker he was my favourite raptors then the next year when the raps got moon he became my fav player but the thing with moon is eventually he will start chuckin 3s and play lazy d parker on the other hand I have respect for one of the better pure shooters in the league and can also create a little off the dribble and does a decent job with perimeter defense although age is starting to catch up to him

Parker and Moon are great pickups and give us the depth that we need. In addition the varied lineups will definitely help force teams to adjust to us and not the other way around. I am excited about this year and how we can get Lebron some rest and the development of young players.

they provide excellent depth and size on the perimeter. parker give us another shooter, while moon can play sf while lebron is moved to pf for matchup purposes against certain teams.

Re: Thoughts on Parker and Moon?
Just heads up to Cavs fans. Have a LOW expectation for Moon. His bball IQ is high school level. But atleast you got a guy who's on the other extreme in bball IQ in Parker. He was probably our best player in the playoffs back in 07 and in 08. AP is one of those players who commentators can always compliment because he does all the little things and its rare to see him make a bone headed play. Some raptor fans thought Anthony Parker was getting old and slow because he had problem covering LBJ and Kobe without a center to help out on the weakside. Guess what they forgot? Outside a couple of teams, EVERYONE has that problem. All in all.. Enjoy having a +40% 3pt shooter with LBJ and Shaq.

Don't worry, you know, we had Drew Gooden and Sasha Pavlovic on our team, we have already seen it all.

Re: Thoughts on Parker and Moon?
I've actually been pleasantly surprised by Moon. To be totally honest I wasn't all that excited when we originally signed him, I preferred Barnes at the time but Moon has played some outstanding ball in the preseason so far.
His length and instincts on defense will be huge for us. It seems like every time he comes in he makes something happen on defense and he gives us the size to match up to bigger guards and forwards.
But the most impressive thing about Moon so far is his shooting/scoring. He has been the highest % 3pt shooter on the team so far in preseason I think and has hit 3-4 threes in a couple games already. The game when we sat all our big guns he had like 18pts. The guy can play when given a chance, I see why Ferry picked him up.
Parker as has been said is pretty much a flawless all-around basketball player outside of his declining athleticism. I wish we could've gotten this guy about 4-5 years ago from Europe.

Re: Thoughts on Parker and Moon?
I'm going to miss anthony parker, i check cleveland box scores consistently to see how he is doing. I know the raps aren't going to win the ship anytime soon, so I hope you guys win it just because of him.
he does everything right, like others said he will never make a play that will make you scratch your head (moon on the other hand will). i hope you guys appreciate him more than raptors fans did... we are way too over critical. they find problems in everyones game, alot of people on the board couldn't wait to get rid of this guy, which makes no sense to me as you can see he can still play.
he's a perfect fit for you guys, i feel like you are dating my ex girlfriend
what you stated about moon will not remain true unless he really improved his shot... teams were consistently leaving moon wide open for 3, to the point where he would have 3-4 seconds to think about his shot. it began messing with his confidence I believe because he would still miss the shot and then stop taking it completely, or step in to take a long two and miss or even if he makes it, its the most inefficient shot in basketball.
i think if he can stay within himself and use his athleticism for you guys, and maybe start cutting a bit more he will be great. again, the raptors fans coming to these boards had crazy expectations for this guy considering his career history.
hope you guys enjoy a good season.

Has Lebron ever cracked the whip at any recent or past Cavs player ?

If you think for a second that Moon is going to pull any of that garbage here, you're mistaken... There's no way he's going to get consistent minutes jacking up ill-advised shots and playing poorly...

moon is a better 3pointshooter than first advertised, look at his career 3pt%: .344 and for miami last season he shot .370 , so he isnt just an inside player

Exactly. I remember Moon would never or rarely cut to the basket last season for the Raptors, but once he was traded to Miami, he was doing it a lot because of Wade IMO. I guess Moon just needs a leader to force him to play to his capabilities.
Basketball is like poetry in motion, cross the guy to the left, take him back to the right, he's fallin back, then just J right in his face. Then you look at him and say, "What?" - Jesus Shuttlesworth

Re: Thoughts on Parker and Moon?
raps fans here. im rootin for you guys to win a ring. i don't think the cavs are quite on orlando or boston's level of depth, but parker is a terrific pickup. a lot of people are saying that the raps will make the playoffs but without parker, that isn't an absolute guarantee. our offense needed a guy like him. he'll be great for cleveland.
ps. don't rely on moon to be a defensive stopper. he falls for every pumpfake you throw at him. don't expect him to drive or cut to the rack either. most of his shots are mid to 3 pt jumpers. this guy will make you bipolar.

Re: Thoughts on Parker and Moon?
I like Parker, but as a 5th option on offense..like a Battier/Bowen/Raja Bell type role. He can run the team with PG duties for a bit too, but I don't think it's at a good enough level for a champion caliber team..even if it's for spot minutes. I haven't been digging his mid-range fade-aways for the past year either, it seems as if he's regressed. Although, he's gotten hot for 2-3 games.
Stick him to his role (using his other skills just for back-up/end of shot clock/scrambled possession purposes) and he'll be good.
Moon, for me, is a guy I'd only want to be playing for 10-15 minutes a game..maybe less.
