Kobe on the Cavs

Post#1 » by eatyourchildren » Fri Oct 9, 2009 8:33 pm

-- Dan Patrick asked Kobe the biggest acquisition this offseason. Kobe pointed to Cleveland signing Anthony Parker. "It's always the glue guys. Those are the pieces that win championships. For example us picking up Trevor Ariza. Shannon Brown."

I would say it depends on how much Shaq has left in the tank. If Shaq falls off the cliff during the season (possible at his age) then I could see Kobe's comment being true as Parker has a good chance to be a starter and contribute significantly.

Possible it's a jab by Kobe but he might just think Shaq is getting old and won't be able to produce as much.

Can't say he's wrong.

BTW:

Dan asked Bryant if he ever got any calls because he was a star. Kobe said never. But he admitted that sometimes the great ones get a step. "Growing up, I thought that was the NBA was. You could take three steps," Bryant said.

 That's the real jab.

Well....lets hope this thing either goes really good or really bad. At least we would be able to move some contracts to get pieces.

Now you know if Shaq did an interview like that, there would be about 15 threads on the general board about how he trashed LA and threw the team under a bus.

Kobe says best free agent acquisition was Anthony Parker!

Post#8 » by jumanok » Tue Oct 20, 2009 4:23 pm

Check this out Cavs fans, Kobe was quoted as saying that he believes AP will have the greatest impact of any free agent signing this summer.

I'm a Raps fan, but I want to hear your thoughts on this.

If not AP then who? Hedo? Artest? Let's hear it lads!

The difference between Anthony Parker and Wally or pavlovic is way bigger than the difference between Shaq and Big Z. I agree with Kobe here.

Neither Wally or Pavs was our starting SG, Delonte West was, and West is better than Parker. And I love Z but we are talking about Shaq right?

I don't really want to respond to that and explain things any further, if you missed my points it's not really my fault.

The arrogance of Lakers fans is really galling. We already have someone that plays Parker's position who is better than him. Kobe was talking nonsense that he was the biggest upgrade in the offseason, a comment clearly directed at his nemesis Shaq, yet his little fanboys still pop up aroudn the internet to defend his comments as somehow rational

Wait how did this turn out to be a diss. Isn't this a compliment to the Cleveland management for a good pick up?

The only thing that makes Shaq a better pick up than Parker is that it gives you the option to trade Big Z, maybe for someone like Stephen Jackson. And I'm not defending Kobe, I've had these sentiments ever since Parker was signed.

Arrogance? It's almost like you're a Wizards or Pistons fan planted on this board to make Cavs fans look bad. I'm not even saying Shaq was a bad pickup or anything, I just think Anthony Parker was a fantastic pickup, and he scares me a lot more than Shaq does as a fan of an opposing team. I wanted Anthony Parker on the Lakers badly.

The Lakers actually had a lot more problems with centers that could shoot the mid-range shot like Big Z can. I have no idea why you are getting so offended, you are being way too overly sensitive. Kobe, who knows a lot about the game of basketball and actually competes against these people, is saying that one of the lesser publicized moves of the off season was a big move and a great pickup for you guys.

As a raptors fan i can say that Anthony Parker is a great character guy. Willing to do what's best for the team. He's also versatile and can play the point guard position. He's athletic and can throw down a dunk in transition. Not to mention he is clutch:

was able to shoot over three defenders on that clip. He's also a great three point shooter. He also has a very nice fadeaway jumpshot from 15 feet.

The video is a bit dated but he was able to do this on a consistent basis all of last season with the raps.

hey another raps fan here and trust me you guys are gonna love AP. He was one of my favourite players on the team last year and his presence will be missed, as chuckerz said he's very versatile can play both guard positions IMO he's an outstanding role player.
