Post#1 » by akola » Sun Oct 25, 2009 9:21 pm

Jamie Foxx has a radio show on Sirius where he often tells stories about meeting celebrities and here he talks about meeting Kobe. Jamie Foxx isn't a Lakers fan so in their meeting there was some trash talk. In the story Kobe speaks on the Celtics, Lebron, and responds to some trash talk.

Start listening from 2:30

Jaime Foxx asks Kobe about Lebron and Kobe calls Lebron a BAD Muthaf...
Says Kobe has alot of respect for Lebron.

He's not yet in my opinion. Kobe has an overall better skill set, and an overall higher basketball IQ which comes with experience...

Soon, though.

I found this gen you posted on the raps board.

Hahahahahaha... another one.

Kobe is a better shooter, has better footwork, has a nicer shot, is a better passer, elevates the players around him better, has a higher basketball IQ, works at his game harder, has better court vision, plays better defense, and I could go on.

People who think Lebron is better than Kobe make me laugh so hard. Kobe Bryant, like him or hate him, is in a league of his own.

Edit: The only thing LeBron has is his age. So, right now if I was to choose between the two to be on my team, I'd choose James hands down. But he still is not the better player, and he has a long ways to go to become Kobe caliber.

Need i say more?

Sure. Let me put it another way.
LeBron James, right now, is the most dominate player in the league. Is he the most skilled? No.
He is dominate because of his size, and because of his athleticism. Added to that, he is a smart and talented basketball player... he's just not as smart, or talented as Kobe Bryant who is a true student of the game. Most you don't realize just how much work he puts into his game, and he does improve every year even at 32. His stats are going down, but his team is getting better, so that makes sense. If LeBron had the team Kobe did, his offensive stats would probably be lower as well - not to mention, due to his body size, Kobe just can't get the rebounds LeBron can and the same can probably be said about blocks.

SKILL WISE, Kobe is better. If Kobe Bryant had LeBron's body, this question would not even be up for debate, and deny it all you want but it's true.

To me, SKILL and SMARTS > Athletism/Size. LeBron WILL get there, he is NOT there yet.

You can debate it with me all you want, but I'll never change my mind. You probably won't either.

So, cheers.

My problem is that the argument ignores some obvious truths. Kobe does not have LeBrons body never has and never will. Kobe being a smarter player is truly up to debate. Kobe does have greater skill, but I disagree about the basketball knowledge and facts are facts. LeBron is bigger and stronger which is not a negative for LeBron. I really love the better passer comment. I guess Kobe's passes are so pretty that he limits how many of them he uses.

But I do agree that LeBrons stats would likely decline if he was on a team with the talent of the Lakers.

Well, your basketball IQ develops with experience. That is something Kobe has on LeBron... but that is something LeBron will gain as he gets older... I'm not denying LeBron will surpass Kobe when he reaches his peak, but I don't think he is there yet - which is a good thing for all you LeBron fans.

LeBron is bigger and stronger, which works in favor of Kobe when arguing overall skill. Obviously, he's at a natural handicap to LeBron, and Kobe makes up for it in other ways.

Thats false, Magic, Bird, etc all came in with great BBall IQ, as did LeBron.
Is Pierces BBall IQ higher than LeBrons because hes been playing longer? I dont think so.

Sure your overall knowledge can increase with experience, but that still doesn't mean that a player who is for all intents and purposes is a prodigy can't have advanced knowledge without having as much experience.

What's interesting is that this thread wasn't even about who is better that was introduced by others.

LeBron James would respond, but he does not need to because he's LeBron Raymone James.

when it matters (nba finals) kb has the worst basketball iq ive ever seen from a superstar, his response to pressure defense is the worst in nba finals history, we saw it v detroit (38% shooting, hardly any assists either btw) and we saw it v boston (41% and some unforgettable high school attempts), and in fact we saw it v orlando (3 awful shooting games), worst shot-selection of all-time, he should be thanking his lucky stars for shaq and gasol

This is not a LeBron VS Kobe thread. This thread is about some things that Jaime Foxx said on his internet radio show. Lets stick to that otherwise I will lock the thread.

Please, stop. You're talking nonsense. Kobe is the 2nd best SG of all times, a damn good player with a tremendous basketball IQ.

We don't need 129 Kobe fans assaulting to this topic because of these nonsenses.

^ then how do you explain his continually awful nba finals? and that is the stage when greatness is established yet he plays his worst each time; and when people look back on history theyll see all this statistically (there is no disputing it)
