Iverson

Post#1 » by Baseline Runner » Sun Nov 8, 2009 4:49 am

I know this will meet with disapproval, and I'm not so sure about it myself, but the Cavs should really consider picking up Iverson as the final piece for a championship run this year. The dude can still play at a high level.

Umm...what? Bron don't need a lecture about practice nor need the ball away from his hands...

It's amusing that 'AI' doesn't get it that his career is winding down and no one really wants him because of his big ME First attitude which was on display in Detroit last season.

The Grizzlies are finding out first-hand what it's like to have guard Allen Iverson on their team. He wants to start at all costs.

"(Coach LionelHollins) knows I've never come off the bench in my whole career," Iverson said. "He knows that's not something I'm accustomed to. He knows that's not something I would want to do."

Iverson was the only person in the NBA, evidently, who didn't realize the Grizzlies were rebuilding.

"Nobody ever said anything about rebuilding," he said.

No team should ever sign Iverson unless they are willing to give him a starting spot. Its not like the guy hasn't been extremely clear about the fact that he will only play as a starter, signing iverson and benching him is like signing Dwight Howard and making him shoot three pointers. Whether he is better than Mo is questionable, i think yes i am sure most will disagree, but we can't really bench Mo so theres no point in even considering this.

That will be a good fit for Cavs if he agrres coming from bench, and i think he will
coming from the bench with a team like Cavs , Celtics, Olando, Lakers it's not the same than with a lottery team like Memphis
A.I can still be a very productive next to Lebron and Shaq.

Thats ridiculous, the guy is not going to come of the bench. If thats not abundantly clear by now i don't know how much more proof you need.

Yeh the guy is never going to come off the bench and he doesnt realize he no longer has it. We already have a guy who is not a through and through pg running the point so why bother bringing in another guy who cant run the point? This will never happen nor should it ever happen.

Unless you guys are planning on starting him...no.

Although AI/LeBron/Shaq would be an insane level of starpower and talent.

Iverson is only 34. He is perhaps the quickest player in NBA history so him losing a step still makes him faster than just about everyone else in the NBA. He's also a very underrated passer.

G - Iverson
G - West
SF - James
PF - Varejao
C- Shaq
6th - Mo

Iverson does not fit within the team.. We are trying to win a championship this year, and having him on the roster will not give us any benefits.

I think that the Cavs would have to give Iverson a spot in the starting lineup,

AND a guarantee that he would have a green light to shoot as many shots as he can load up,

AND a guarantee that there will be none of this "now let's run a play for Lebron" silliness.

i'd love to see this happen. when iverson left philly the cavs was the team i originally wanted him to go on! mo williams plays alot like a young allen iverson. last night's game was a perfect example of that. if allen could check his ego at the door and come off the bench for mo and get some mins. at the sg position with delonte west out then it could work out beautifully. if only someone could talk some sense into him!

You guys can have iverson start for 3 minutes in the game, and then have him sub off first whistle for Parker and your set. But I don't think Lebron and iverson can coexist together. I can see AI and Shaq work well together though.

As a matter of fact, of all the stars in this league, i see Lebron - AI combo to be one of the most workable. In this case, chemistry doesn't matter, they would be just too powerfull.

I see the Cavs as the second best team in the east (don't see anyone beating the Celtics in the entire league), but if they want to get over the Celtics or the Lakers, in a possible finals, they will need someone like AI.

Delonte West seems to be out of the mix, can't be counted on.

So the Cavs DO have a hole to fill in the roster. There is a significant loss here because West provided the team with baskets at important junctures during games, like to end drought or to answer back and stem the other team's run.

Who thinks Antonio Daniels is gonna make a difference when it comes to contending? I don't.

I like Parker but if its necessary to get the trade done,.. then I'd do it.

Delonte might be on the inactive list all season,.. nobody will trade for him,.. he's very damaged goods.

Signing Iverson to the Cavs can only help to push Lebron out. Keep him away. He won't be happy unless he's starting and taking shots away from players that are actually good. Him + Shaq = disaster.

He's better than Antonio Daniels.

Might be the perfect fit for AI
