Troy Murphy?
Simple and benefits both sides to a degree:
S&T Wally, Delonte, Darnell Jackson,Cash
for
Troy Murphy
Why? I think that over the past two weeks, witht the high level Indiana has played and showed that they can win without Murphy besides the fact he is having a lackluster start since he has been pushed out even more out the focus of the offense. I think they cut bait while he still has value before his numbers dip more compared to last year. They get instant cap relief in Wally. Delonte if inserted into the starting lineup allows the Pacers to run small ball (Besides Rush is doing horrible at the 2spot right now 36%FG)until Foster comes back at full health. But he gives OBrien that defensive mindset that he preaches. If he doesnt work out he has a $500,000 buy out clause at the end of the season. Darnell Jackson brings that tough mindset and another big body that can work for the Pacers. They can now focus on starting the low post game with Hibbert who hasnt been getting the touches he should at the rate he is scoring and split the new offense between him and Granger.
Cavs obviously do this to Spread the floor with Shaq and to give the Cavs another scorer who will likely benefit with playing with Lebron who can also grab double digit rebounds. This allows then Z's contract to upgrade SG position. I think there will be more wings later on down the road before the trade deadline with the chance of still getting Z back. It hurts to lose Delonte with what he is capable of bringing to the table but with us having Parker and Delonte trying to get back in rhythm. There are only two bigs we can look at Murphy and Kaman realistically. But everyday Kaman plays it looks like he will be pulled off the market. We can hopefuly wait in DWest but that may never materialize. There will likely be ore wings that we can upgrade to by the trade deadline using Z, JJ, or Boobie.

I guess we will have to wait closer to the trade deadline to see how Hickson is panning out since Murphy would cut into his playing time without getting a better defensive player. Murphy would be OK with me--- if the price isn't that high. I would think that the Pacers would possibly want Hickson though.

Re: Troy Murphy?
I am slightly confused with the love affair of Troy. He just does not do anything for me and it may be because I do not follow him much. What the Cavs need is a game changer on the offensive side of the ball. The team we have right now still lacks the presence of a true #2 scorer. Mo CAN be at times but he is still mildly inconsistent. The good thing I do like about the Cavs is that they have plenty of assets for buying in a market that will become increasingly desperate. Who knows which players will become available, but I just do not see Troy as a game changer.

I think Leon Powe will be the one cutting into Hickson's PT by Feb/Mar. Hopefully Murphy would take Z's minutes. Troy Murphy has a pretty big contract and basically all the Cavs would need him to do is make some outside shots and collect some boards. I would take him but agree there could be better options by the deadline. It would be nice to find a big man that is a little more versatile esp on defense and maybe a few years younger. Definitely would NOT give up JJ in any deal for Murphy.

Would not give up JJ for Troy but I think what was offered above isnt much. We can then start looking to send Z off for a wing. I think if Wiz are really that bad, would they be willing to give up Caron? I would do that in a minute. I think his toughness and I know it is a rival but when you have a chance at winning it works. Besides the Wiz may think that if we tale Butler then we will be pusjing Lebron out but I would like to see that lineup. Mo,Butler,James,Murphy, Shaq with Boobie, Parker, Moon, JJ, and Varajao on the bench. Wow.

Not bad. Good rebounder, shooter, can finish inside.
His D isn't great but no worse than Hickson or Z's. We could do alot worse.
As some others said would prefer something better but beggars can't be choosers.

This is actually starting to grow on me. I think we are badly in need to a rebounder and his stats say that he is a good one.

Re: Troy Murphy?
I think Murphy would be a terrific fit for the Cavs but tell me, why on earth would Indiana do the proposed deal? They are giving up clearly their second most productive player last season (not far off their most productive btw) for a combination of a guy they could sign right now if they wanted to, a big problem, a late second who might be out of the league in a year and some cash. Really? Would you guys even take that deal for AV, a similar type of player who's numbers are not in the same stratosphere as Murphy's have been?
I know he's paid a bit but I have to think they could get more for him than that poo poo platter.

Re: Troy Murphy?
I would consider it but Murphy would have to come off the bench. He can't defend the PF's that we will have to go against in the post-season....
-Kevin Garnett
-Rashard Lewis
-Pau Gasol/Lamar Odom
I only like this trade because we aren't giving anything of value up....although if Delonte can get his head on right (which I think he will later in the year) he could be a VERY valuable piece coming off the bench and in crunch time.

i'd love to have murphy but i just don't think the pacers are going to trade him to us and they are definitely not going to trade with us without hickson involved.

I love to say this; You're extremely mistaken. Murphy = out in Indy cause of his contract and the fact that Tyler Hansbrough has looked like he can be good in this league. They easily take Wally/West/1st for Troy.

Give us a first and i think it's a done deal. We need a defensive minded PF and Murph isn't it.

I think Wally, Darnell Jackson, and a 2nd rounder would get it done.

I would certainly do that deal, but of course it isnt my money. I know Troy would be a good fit b/c of his outside shot, and he gets a lot of defensive rebounds which is needed on this team. Defensively, we all know he isnt a good defender, but that deal would be too hard to pass up if it were available.
