Delonte!!!

Am I the only one that absolutely loves this guy?
Yeah, I know that Delonte is only putting up 8/3/3 but I still think he's criminally underrated. The fact that he wasn't getting any playing time in Seattle is downright comical. Admittedly, he really doesn't have a position, he can score, but he's not really a scorer and while I think he's a good playmaker he's not really a point guard. But man, I'd love to have a team full of players like him at various heights. He's just a great player to have on your team.

I think we all love him. He's a great shooter, defender, and passer. He gives the team another dimension coming off the bench.. There is no way the Cavs would be at that elite level if it weren't for him.
This was my favorite play from him.

Hot Sauce in my bag..

If Delonte was normal, he would be the perfect fit here long term...Easily one of my favorite Cavs to ever play...
There's not a single thing Delonte West can't do on the court...
Shoot the ball mid range (check)
Spot up and shoot the 3 ball (check)
Use the glass (check)
One dribble pull up (check)
Step back jumpers (check)
Handle the ball like a PG (check)
Run the offense (check)
Move well off the ball (check)
Take his man off the dribble (check)
Post up (check)
Finish with touch at the basket (check)
Finish with strength at the basket (check)
Throw down a dunk (check)
Hit FT's (check)
Defend quick guards (check)
Defend bigger guards (check)
Rotate properly (check)
Set screens properly (check)
Use screens properly (check)
Pass the ball in traffic (check)
Throw a lob (check) --though he has almost gotten LeBron killed a couple times
Play uptempo (check)
Lead a break (check)
Plays with toughness (check)
Gets on the floor for loose balls (check)
Plays with heart (check)
Plays well in big games (check)
There's no coincidence that Delonte is always out there (when available) in the biggest spots of the game... He always plays the 4th quarter and that's a testament to the type of player he is...
Seriously, could you imagine if Delonte was lets say around 6-7 in height and was completely mentally stable ?? The guy would be considered one of the best all around players in the game IMO... Probably a much better version of Tayshaun Prince back when Tayshaun was actually on the brink of all star consideration IMO...
The best part about Delonte is you can't call him anything but a basketball player... He's not a Point guard, he's not a 2guard... The guy is just a straight baller...

Sure Delonte has some mental issues during the off season, but he hasn't had any during the season that I've heard of at all. I just don't understand why get goes off of his medication after the season ends.

I wonder what we're going to do with him.
Back around the deadline W&G was talking about how he would be the odd man out if we acquired a SG, so it seems like the Cavs treat him as very expendable. I'm sure a lot is contingent on how this off-season goes and whatnot...but I wonder if they plan on keeping him and eventually re-signing him.

Honestly, I can't see how he would be the odd man out on this team. he can back up at both the 1 and the 2. Yeah, I'm pretty sure that Brown wants some size at the 2, but I'd rather have someone that can stay in front of most of the quick 2's and plays that gritty defense you get from Delonte than someone with just size.

Unless we can get an Iguodala or someone, there is no way West is leaving.

west numbers lie to most people because at the start of the season brown was playing him weird mins, and trying to figure out the backcourt, plus the bipolar issues at the start of the season. delonte has been steppin in up in the past month and ahalf id say and it looks like hes starting to be the delonte of last year.
ps: i get just as excited for a delonte dunk as a lebron dunk delonte is fearless.

It's about time Delonte got his act together, if he can play like he did last season I can see the Cavs being very competitive against the Magic.
Whatever happened with his gun case though?
Seems like it's kind of been swept under the rug, or did he already serve a suspension for it?

Nothing has happened thus far. I think everyone is just waiting for the criminal case (if any) to be done. Not sure why everything is taking so long.

I believe he has a court date in April. Iam sure they will try to push it back to after basketball seson.
As far as basketball goes Delonte has game. As long as he can stay out of trouble he will be on the Cav's. His best position for this team is 1st guard off the bench. He will be on the floor in crunch time because of his defense. Simply LOVE Delonte on this team.

Almost this whole season was up and down for Delonte from mental standpoint. Just because he doesn't want to shoot people anymore (or whatever he wanted to do with those guns) doesn't mean he is mentally stable, we couldn't count on him. He's got better recently and it shows in his play I guess.

A lot of players have had a part in making us the team we are today, but Delonte has been the number one guy who turned this team around from mediocrity a couple of years ago. Right when we got him in a trade he helped lead us to the ECF against eventual champs Boston. The next two years we are winning 60 plus games with him. Mo is a nice player but is often inconsistent and one-dimensional. Delonte brings it on both ends of the floor every night.

Delonte is probably the most dangerous player Cavs have after Lebron James because quite frankly. Hes so underrated. People forget that he can do it all.

I just wish he was more of a consistent scorer, he is already a great defender

Lakers fan here... not here to cause trouble, but just to find an answer to my curiosity.
I like Delonte West and I find him to be an interesting personality along with a very good role player, but I know he has some mental problem. I was just wondering what the issues were and how it effects his performance on and off the court? Its sad to hear somebody with so much talent unable to perform due to a mental condition.

West has a bipolar disorder. I don't know much about it, but it doesn't really seem to be effecting his game as much as one would have anticipated, although he did sat out quite a bit earlier in the season. At this point, he seems to be fine. He's been on top of his game lately.

Delonte is a totally complete basketball player. Solid handle, midrange J, 3pt shot, post-up game, off the dribble game, terrific perimeter and post-up defender against bigger guards, excellent passer, he is even a good shot blocker for his size.
Basically he is a totally complete player in every facet of the game.
If he was 3 inches taller he would be an All-Star.
