I think Sebastian would have had more seasoning under his belt. He has had one main problem and I think he would at least get on the court if he had the ability to be more efficient. If his FG% was between 42% and 44%, his 3pt% would have to escalate above his season high of 35%. If his shot was that much better he would avg over his career high in assists which is ~6. He can create and he can get in the lane but why not just give him the shot if he cants shoot. Plus being that small, quick, and fast he should avg closer to 2 stls a game so I dont think his IQ may be high enough to play good defense.

He would have been forced to develop a reliable jumper with zone defenses. I think it would have worked out well for him, and that if he spent 2 years in college he'd be a top 10 or 15 PG right now.

Hes been a pro for like 5 years and has no jumper, I doubt he suddenly becomes a good jump shooter cause of a year of college.

He would have flopped, but at least tried to develop a jumper before the NBA. He was used to getting wherever he wanted on the court in high school while finishing near the rim so he never developed that necessary midrange J.

He still wouldnt have a college degree. Or an all star appearance. Or a reliable jump shot.

Do anyone think that Telfair would get any playing time during the indiana, toronto or chicago games?

Actually he has a really good IQ, he's just too small.

He'd be a lot less rich right now. He made by far the best career choice, milked a high draft position and a 2nd contract out of it. Not too shabby for a guy who's really a fringe NBA player.

I don't know how much college can help with his 2 problems: being too small to defend or finish at the rim, and just not being a talented shooter. NBA players practice shooting much much more than College players simply due to academic restrictions on time of practice. NBA players have far more games to improve in, have far more practice time, and have far fewer obligations.

College improves floor game and fundamentals. He's fundamentally sound. His floor game is quite decent. He's got really stumpy arms and no off-the-dribble jumper to speak of. His spot-up J is also poopy. He was a good prospect that never improved on the aspect almost all prospects are expected to improve upon. The end.

Did anyone watch Telfair's documentary Through the Flames? It's a superb movie btw, but during one segment, Telfair missed 12 open jumpshots in a row practicing his shooting before the NBA draft.. That's pretty bad especially for NBA standards.

Some guys just can't improve their jumpshot no matter how hard they work.

Oh... they can improve them (the jump shot). It is a matter of work ethic. What is his? Where did he learn his ethic from?

The real question is this: Will being around guys like LeBron, Delonte, Shaq, Zydrunas, Antawn, etc,etc improve Sebastian's work ethic? He is only 24. They do need a 2nd pg. He is expiring. Gibson is more valuable in a trade.

But will the Cavaliers give him the summer to prove himself, or will he be traded before he has a chance? What would you do? Many people wanted to throw Dragic under the bus after last year... his long history of HORRIBLE shooting... now, all of a sudden, the guy is in the top 5 in 3pt shooting for most of the year.

Remember this: People that are naturally good shooters, are almost always good freethrow shooters as well. Sebastian is a good FT shooter. So does he just need Jent to work with him? Or, do we throw him under the bus?

Well beyond the obvious, it will be an interesting offseason for a few players. Gibson is signed to a reasonable contract, but he cant be thrilled with his pt. I have to admit I am always drawn into the hype of young players with "potential", which is what Telfair was/is.
I wonder if Telfair would get any interest in the F/A market, or if we could sign him to a vet minimum type of deal. I think Gibson would be the odd man out, but his shooting is still valuable to our team so trading him is a risk as well. Of course none of this will be resolved until the big question is answered. Hopefully we will all still be celebrating Cleveland's first title and then the re-signing of Lebron as well.

A HUGE problem that was overlooked before his draft was the fact that all of his scoring was done inside. He was very crafty down there but he wasn't much of an athlete and no scout put 2 and 2 together that he wouldn't be able to do that in the NBA.

He was always a horrid shooter but he was such a talented/flashy passer in High School that he just needed to get around the painted area then dish it or simply make people think he's going to dish it so he could go for an easy 2. Never ever understood the hype with him.

He should've been redflagged for being Marbury's cousin too.

He has been hyped since the 8th grade playing varsity basketball. He more talented then his stats shows...He just needs to be in the right system...
