I'll let RS correct me if I'm wrong, bit I'd definitely say Wilken and Luke Adams but will both be in minors rest of season, nothing imminent there. For immediate maybe Vaughn or Ernesto? But both play 1B and blocked by Hoskins this season.

RS also mentioned Blake Burke, but he hasn't shown power so far.

Yea, I think Vaughn is the current break glass in case of emergency option. He's the only one on the 40-Man. If something happened to Bauers I think they would bring Black back up.

We still don't know they extent of Wilken's injury, but it's such a massive bummer if it's an ACL. He turned around from a bad April to an MVP caliber MVP and June. It really looked like this was his breakout season.

Nothing official, but it sounds like a dislocated patella. Not typically a season ending injury and this would still let him participate in the AFL if he came back 100%. He was getting a second opinion as of yesterday.

But again, nothing official.

Nice little article on Pena in BA.

“When I was at the academy, I knew I was going to be a professional baseball player,” Peña told Baseball America in Spanish. “I wasn’t afraid during the tryout. With my tools and the right training, I really knew it could happen.”

Now 18 years old and through two seasons with the Brewers, Peña is already showing flashes of what made people believe in him in the first place. As a prospect, he now ranks third in the Brewers’ system and 30th in the BA Top 100 Prospects list.

With the way he’s performed so far, it’s easy to see why he bet on himself—and why that bet is starting to pay off.

Peña had dominant professional debut in the Dominican Summer League last year, winning the DSL batting title (.393), placing fourth in the league in OPS (1.040) and tying for second in stolen bases (39) with a 91% success rate.

While Peña may not be hitting for as high of an average this season, he’s unlocked a different—and more dangerous—part of his game: power. In 2024, his lone home run came on an inside-the-park sprint. This year, he’s left no doubt, launching seven homers already with exit velocities topping out over 105 mph.

Peña attributes his success to the work he put in during his first offseason as a professional. That winter, he returned to the same academy he developed to remain grounded.

“I really wanted to get stronger this year,” Peña said. “I really take this opportunity to play with the Brewers (seriously). I want to be the best version of myself possible.”

Peña is part of a standout 2024 international signing class—one that’s quickly making its mark across the Brewers’ system. Jorge Quintana is already showing promise in the Arizona Complex League, Jesús Made is one of the most exciting prospects in baseball and José Anderson earned a quick promotion to Low-A.

Despite the internal competition, Peña says the bond among the group runs deep.

“They’re great teammates and they work really hard, too,” Peña said. “While we are also competing against each other at times, we have a lot of respect for each other and have a close bond.”

There is something there with Hardin. Needs quite a bit more work on the breaking stuff as it gets kinda lazy. He's throwing his cutter a ton more as a starter and the success is following. Brewers gonna Brewer.

Baseball America updated it's top 100:

4. Jesus Made
5. Jacob Misiorowski
20. Luis Pena
33. Cooper Pratt
45. Jeferson Quero
93. Logan Henderson

I don't know. Two in the top five, three in the top 20, and six in the top 100 seems alright.

Bleacher Report top 10 power hitter in this year's draft. I want the Brewers to start drafting power hitters, but it seems they are going for hitters like Frelick who are more contact and putting the ball in play.

I get the appeal but you can see the speed/defense roster of pesky hitters paying dividends on the field right now. I think keep using whatever strategy they have been doing and then trade starting pitching like Peralta for that marquee power hitter.

Worth noting it was just two years ago they took the biggest power hitters in the draft(Wilken)

Baseball America updated its top fantasy prospects list. I had to chuckle. The Brewers have the top two SS prospects (1 - Peña, 2 - Made) and the top three 3B prospects (1 - Adams, 2 - Wilken, 3 - Bitonti).

If power is what you crave, you’d be extremely happy with the power projections each of them have.

Best farm system in the history of the franchise?
Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming Wow! What a Ride!-H.S.T.

They need to deal away any SP not signed past this year. Quintana, Woody if he looks solid, Cortes...they all can go.

Draft starts Sunday and Brewers will make 5 picks, (yes I am still salty about #33). #20, 32, 59, 68, and 94. They have the 10th largest bonus pool at $13,138,100. With the up to 5% the total they can use without incurring draft capital penalty is $13,795,005. The keep getting linked to LaViolette but as history shows us. They'll likely take an under slot at 20 and load up on prep arms. Kiley linked them today to Charles Davalan, Brady Ebel, Coy James and Ethan Rogers (though maybe he meant Ethan Moore here? Rogers is just outside the top 250 in most publications). This draft is deep with prep infielders and not much gap in talent from #25 to #75.

If they are going arms early go big and bring in fast movers. But history shows us they are going outfield again specifically CF.
