I think Turnbow has shown that he can perform but one game strikes me...the one against the Phillies when he came in the 8th w/ a 4 run lead after Shouse gave up 2 hits and got no one out. Yost stuck with him after a walk, wild pitch, single, fly out, single, single, fielders choice that ties the game (i believe Fielder made a bad play), single, sac fly out.

I mean that was extreme where he left him out there when he obviously didn't have it.

I wasn't watching only following the play-by-play on my comp today but after two walks against good hitters but guys you need to challenge...I have to question whether he has his stuff (maybe he did). But I think the bullpen can still perform but Yost doesn't need to follow the unwritten rule of setup guy in the 8th (turnbow) anc closer (cordero) in the 9th...to me Cordero needs to be out there when the game is on the line not when baseball convention says...

Oh, I agree, it struck me personally as I was there!

That was a momentum changing game for so many reasons...

I think in that game more so he stuck with Turnbow way too long. I agree with your general premise about Cordero, but I guess with a four game set against the Fish coming up and Cordero having worked last night, I guess I understand.

But definitely agree with your main premise...

tough game to lose in that way... i only got to watch the final three outs because of school but its prolly better that i didnt have to watch that 8th inning tho cause otherwise i would have a lot worse feeling from actually seeing the collapse instead of just reading about it

Joe Thatcher and his 1.59 ERA is waiting in the minors.

I don't think Turnbow got ahead of any batter he faced. Yost has to know by now that if Turnbow is not getting his first pitch over for a strike and is getting behind in the count, he's toast. Either hitters will sit on his fast ball and make a 97 mph pitch look like BP or Turnbow's control goes to mush trying to keep hitters from making a 97 mph pitch look like BP.

Well, that was one craptacular game.

I don't know that we do. Matt Wise kills lefties because of his changeup away. In the last three years, lefties are hitting .188 with a .246 OBP and a .252 SLG against him. I highly doubt we could find a lefty pitcher that could match that.
