MLB: The Show '14
For the billionth year in a row I'll be picking this one up. I wish I'd had a chance to read more reviews (any?) but everyone must have gotten the game late.
Two things stick out from what I've read that could be major or minor based on what you like to play:
1 - No more goals in RTTS. You do stuff, you get to upgrade or maintain your skills as you like. Don't care about bunting? Don't **** worry about it.
2 - You can edit potential. This is goddamn huge. Finally.
Another thing that's gotten some ink is the new quick count feature. It sounds like in an effort to speed the games up you can start your at bat at a random count: 0-2, 1-2, 3-1...whatever. Games can take a third as long to complete.
You can also play through a game as an actual player, ala RTTS.
One thing i think sounds hella cool in RTTS is you actually start as a prep. You play some showcase games and your performance determines where you get drafted. Apparently you may not actually want to sign at all. You can go from HS age to a couple years down the line and try again.
I'm gonna pick it up tonight.
If you're a PS3 owner you can buy it at Gamestop, then when it comes out for PS4 you can trade it in for $20. Probably worth it if you think you'll play it throughout April. I think you have to be a powerup rewards zone member, but I think that's free.

Hopefully the picture is much better. The Miller Park scoreboards last year looked like hot garbage.

The franchise mode is different and Im not sure I like it. They took away the "Top prospect" little buttons and things are a little more confusing.

The top 50 button is there. Not sure why I missed it. It still is a bit weird though. I also wish they would fix the trading engine. In the game I was offered Anthony Rendon and a player whom I believe to be Giolito for Konerko. This shouldnt happen.

One of these days I'm gonna have to use the sliders to make RTTS tougher. I think I played 15 or so games last night, skipping the baserunning. I've got an OPS around 1.400 despite terrible skill attributes as an 18 year old SS in the Brewers org. Game is still hella fun.

Can't wait for the PS4. NBA 2k14 on the PS4 is on a different planet than the PS3 version. Excited to see what it looks like.

Re: MLB: The Show '14
Does anyone know what the best XBox One game is? I see RBI is out, but that is a bit of an arcade-style game like the old Nintendo one, right? Somebody had told me there was one coming out for Xbox one but the internetz aren't doing a very good job telling me. I got talked into switching to Xbox One and not having The Show is kinda pissing me off.

The best baseball game? There isn't one.

Re: MLB: The Show '14
Yeah the guy that talked me into going XB1 basically said that the one baseball game they put out last year on XBox sucked. Any plans or anything to get one? I see that RBI exists...is there even another option? The internet seems to suggest no, but I'm holding out hope.

It's only an option if you go in knowing it's R.B.I. Baseball from 20 years ago but updated* graphics. Not a sim in any sense of the word. If you still have a PS3 just get the Show.
I bought an XB1 in January and it's been collecting dust ever since. I've got five or six games and they're fine, but it doesn't look like there's really going to be anything worth buying a system for coming out until next year. I'm dumb.

Hoping it's a really good one but I haven't been impressed.
