I would suggest reading Charles C.W. Cooke's "Smarter Than Thou", but I'm starting to suspect that you actually wrote it.

I'd also be interested in the part where Silver says which side of the plate you hit from matters as little as you seem to think it does. You'd have to get pretty creative to find a stat that backs that up.
